IN THE EYE OF THE STORM

Many of us have experienced & weathered through storms in our lives. My favorite author, Max Lucado, has written a book entitled "In the Eye of the Storm" back in 1991 but the truths he shared still "hold water"(forgive my pun) in the storms of today. His main point is that you can be assured that within every torrent, there is a calm center...the eye of the storm.

So according to Max, "there is no storm strong enough to tear you away from your Source of Strength. No pain can hide the Savior from you. No disappointment can derail your journey to the Father. It's a matter of will ~ that continual leap of faith you make when your spirit is bruised."

Then he shares some reminders ~ a collection of "lighthouses" pointing the way to your Source of Strength. I have not had time to reread ALL that I wanted to share from Max's great writings, but I felt I must begin putting down some of my thoughts as I venture through the "waters" or look at past "storms" in my life and the ROCK I now stand on.

For some of us, this journey has been long, very long and stormy. In no way, do I wish to minimize or make light the difficulties that many of us have had to face along life's journey. It is so hard for some of us to see the Light (from the Lighthouse) in the midst of the storm, but we must forge ahead and press on, keep searching & moving forward towards the LIGHT!

Max reminded me that "God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say the arrival would be worthwhile." It is worth it!!!

In the left sidebar, is a bookmark from this book and if you click on it, not only can you read the fine print but you will be able to read a fine devotional by Max Lucado and can even download "The Laws of the Lighthouse". These are not merely opinions, ideas or preferences but God-given, time tested Truths that define how you should navigate your life. I don't know about you or where your life has "your lifeboat" but I'm tired of crashing against the rocks because I have ignored or not followed the signals, signs, warnings or the Light He gives me as a guide. Observing these gives me safe passage. Jesus told His disciples, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." His Life leads us into the Light from the darkness that overwhelms us at times. A wise captain of a ship follows the signals of the LIGHTHOUSE! Our storm may be His Path!

Read Matthew 14:13-36 specifically 22-36.

Has God ever used a storm "as His path to come to you"? Think about this.

What is your usual response in a storm? Do you find it easier to sit in the tossing boat than to step out into the water and walk in faith toward Jesus?

PSALM 61

O God, Most Holy LORD Almighty...Hear our cry....listen to our prayers on behalf of ...

From the ends of the earth, I call to you...Your children are calling to You...

I call as my heart grows faint...yeah Lord, I thank You for You bring me strength.

Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. For You have been my Refuge, a strong tower against the foe.

I PRAISE YOU and THANK YOU, FOR YOU ARE and HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY ROCK!

THANK YOU for guiding me through the storms in life. THANK YOU for YOUR LIGHT in YOUR WORD that I find my strength & portion daily!

PRAISE GOD!

Understanding that there are prayer requests that may have the need to remain confidential and not for public posting, we have set up a separate e-mail address for this purpose.

If you have a personal and confidential prayer request, please contact us at lighthouseofprayer@gmail.com

Your request will remain confidential, and you will be answered and prayed for personally.

We come to God with our prayers of praise, our prayers of need for ourselves and others.

God has chosen this week to bless me beyond my imagination in all that He has provided to me, an answer to a prayer that I have raised persistently to Him for over 5 years. He has chosen this week to use a young man that I have known since his childhood to bless me with a place I can call "my home" until He calls me to my home with Him. He is restoring to me what I have lost in the past and would never be able to replace on my own.

I am sharing my prayer of thanksgiving and praise to God here with you so that you may join in my celebration of God's goodness to us. (know that I am crying through this prayer, tears of joy in MY GOD!)

Abba,

My Abba! You know me through and through. You know my heart, my mind, my soul. You know my past, You know my present, You know my future.

I have prayed to You for 5 years now, waiting patiently. Yes, Your child waiting patiently for You to answer. I never gave up hope or trust in You that this prayer would be answered.

I have lost so much in the past, not due to my own actions, and I turned to You in my despair. You have held me in Your arms, comforting me through all of this time, leading me onward and upward towards You.

And now, this week, this past week, You have chosen to use a young man named Josh, using him to bless me extraordinarily. You have blessed me with a home, not only a home--but a beautiful home near the water which You know I love. You have provided a place for me to sit and soak in Your presence.

Here, in this new home, I have neighbors who are friendly and willing to help me in whatever way I may need. Here I can listen to music to praise and worship You--anytime I choose to without fear of disturbing others.

You even knew how much I love fireplaces and mantels, and much to my surprise, there they were! You have supplied me with all my wishes and dreams for a new place to call my home here on this earth.

A home, Lord, a home that You have provided for me. I cannot even begin to thank You enough. I have been thanking You for days, crying for joy for days.

I come to the foot of Your Throne to thank You, Lord. Thank You for blessing me and always holding me close to You. I have promised You that I will never turn my face from you again--a promise I made many years ago. I have not and I will not.

You are the GREAT GOD, the GREAT I AM, the HOLIEST of HOLY, and I praise and thank You for all You have done in my life.

And Abba, I thank You for holding me closely and never letting me go, even when I was far from You--You were still there for me--I just didn't know it! And I thank You also for all of those times--times when You provided for me, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and it was YOU!!

God, I ask Your blessings upon this new home that You have provided for my son and I. May this home be a place to glorify YOUR NAME ALWAYS!!

I ask that You continue to pour Your blessings upon Josh--Josh with his ever giving heart and spirit.

As I share my story of Your provision with others, I am asking that seeds be planted in their hearts and minds, seeds of Your love for them also, leading them to You.

For I am giving You all the glory, all the praise, all the thanks in this entire situation. This is not something that I could have ever done on my own. I know that I can do nothing on my own without You. You have provided for me once again, provided me with a home, Lord! A home!!

I give You all glory, honor, praise!!

I love You, Lord with all my heart, with all my strength, with all my mind, with all my soul.

I thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to us, Your great sacrifice of Your own Son so that we may see You in the flesh, see and feel Your love for us pouring out. I pray that You give me the strength and courage to always share this love and sacrifice with others so that they, too, can have Your great blessings poured out upon them.

In Jesus' name, I pray,

Your child,

Beth

Amen

VOICE of FAITH and TRUTH

If this is your first visit, please stop by here and read a little bit about our ministry--how we are joining together to lift others to God in prayer. This is an interactive blog based on a comment and response system. We'd love to see your prayer requests, praises to God, in the comment area and others will be supporting you through their prayers written as a response to your comment there. Be sure to come back and see the prayers lifting you & yours together to the LORD!

"If only you carefully listen to the voice of the Lord your God…"
(Deuteronomy 15:5, AMP)

I read in one of my favorite devotionals this week that there are two voices that compete for our attention throughout our day: the VOICE of FAITH and the VOICE of DEFEAT!

You have the choice daily in each circumstance, to which voice you will give attention.

The negative voices that tell us lies from our past, present or even future, send discouraging messages to defeat us daily. That negative voice may be louder, but you can override those thoughts and that voice. You can take away all the power of this voice by choosing the voice of faith.

The positive voice that gives us encouragements, lifting our spirit and filling us with HOPE and FAITH. Messages of truth that say "You can do all things through Christ ", "You are well able","You are more than a conqueror", "Your best days are yet to come."

When you speak faith, you are in agreement with God. When you speak forth defeat, you are in agreement with the enemy, who wants to rob, steal and defeat you thus winning your soul and thoughts turn to temptations and negativity. The moment you verbalize the thought, you give it the right to come to pass. We must choose to walk in the victory God has in store for us!

Joel Osteen says it best like this:

"God–talk brings God on the scene. Enemy–talk brings the enemy on the scene."

TO WHOM DO YOU CHOOSE TO LISTEN?

WHY NOT COME IN AGREEMENT WITH THE VOICE of FAITH & TRUTH?

CHOOSE to DECLARE VICTORY in each situation, DON'T ALLOW DEFEAT!

DECLARE FAVOR, BLESSING and INCREASE over your life and for those you are praying.

BIND every NEGATIVE, and RELEASE a POSITIVE counter attack.

Heavenly Father, Today and everyday, I choose the voice of faith and victory. I can do all things in Christ who gives me strength. I declare that today, I am rising up higher in You. Lord, forgive me for the times that I did not stop and listen for Your Voice and Your Truth being spoken.

I need a victory (over...........................) in Jesus' Name.

I bless and honor You in everything I think and do. I choose to fill my mind with Your Word, good thoughts that will defeat the negative battle for my mind. I am Yours and You are mine. May I find favor, blessings and victory in You! Thank You for all of Your Promises! Thank You for the full armor of God to protect me today! All glory, honor and praise to You! Be exalted and lifted up in my praises and words. I will listen and believe the VOICE of TRUTH

WHEN I STOP AND LISTEN TO THE SOUND OF JESUS

Why not take a moment today to STOP
and LISTEN
leave us your prayer!

What area of your life is Our LORD speaking that you may need His victory over now?

Can we pray with you? (even anonymously)

LEARNING TO LEAN

If this is your first visit, please stop by here and read a little bit about our ministry--how we are joining together to lift others to God in prayer. This is an interactive blog based on a comment and response system. We'd love to see your prayer requests, praises to God, in the comment area and others will be supporting you through their prayers written as a response to your comment there. Be sure to come back and see the prayers lifting you & yours together to the LORD! Now let's learn to

LEAN ON JESUS

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old deacon who always prayed, 'Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side.' After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently.

He answered, 'Well sir, you see, it's like this... I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time; it's withstood a lot of weather; it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years.

It's still standing. But one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit.

So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall.

Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn. I've been around a long time.

I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, 'cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning at times.

Sometimes we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn't . So we need to pray,

'Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord.''

If you stare at this barn for a second you will see who will help us
stand straight and tall again

I see this principle at work in David's life. I'd like to show you how David was taught to lean solely upon the Lord (at a later time & place through Psalm 34 & more). I want us to learn the truth that what God did in David’s life He is prepared to do in your life and mine. You see, leaning isn’t bad; as long as we are leaning on the right One.

I want you to take time

Kathleen Dillard's WOW in my email this week from PrayerEdge was also on:
[to listen click on it]

On what or on whom are you leaning for your support?

I'm learning to lean on Jesus, how 'bout you?

Here is a prayer starter...or you can pray however you'd like:

O sweet, precious LORD, I come to You this day.

and lay this down
(tell Him what you are laying down)

I have carried this far too long.

I need You Lord Jesus. I want to lean on You.

Your Word tells me:

in Proverbs 3:5
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" NIV

So I'm leaning on You! Trusting in You!

You also tell me:

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
in Matthew 11:26

I will trust in You for this....

and then I will gladly take Your yoke, learn & rest.

"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 29-30

Thank You for setting me free from this

Thank You LORD for all of this! I am complete in You! I glorify Your Name!

Prayer Requests on the Behalf of Others

While traveling around blogland yesterday and today, Peggy and I came upon two separate blogs requesting prayer regarding the same person--Mrs. Jackie.

I read about this at A Pair of Bartletts, and I'm posting this prayer request on behalf of Jen. Mrs. Jackie was an employee with Jen, and she went home to be with Jesus a few days ago after being hospitalized with a mysterious illness. She lost the battle with the illness, but she won her victory in the Lord!

Jen is requesting prayer for Mrs. Jackie's seven children and all of her grandchildren for strength as they go through their grieving and mourning process.

In addition, Jen has shared regarding her father-in-law. He has been hospitalized with a serious heart condition complicated with other health issues. Jen's husband, Rob, and his father have just been reunited after 36 years of separation. Unfortunately, they are 14 hours apart in travel time and cannot be with Rob's father during this time of illness. I have just received word from Jen that Rob's father was released from the hospital today.

Please join me in prayer for both of these families:

Abba,

I lift up to You Mrs. Jackie's children and grandchildren as they lean on You during their mourning and grieving of the loss of their mother and grandmother. May they rest in the blessed assurance that she is now resting peacefully in your arms. What a comfort to be able to say this!! Knowing that she is with You! Help each of her children and grandchildren to feel Your presence during this time, comforting them through Your Word, feeling Your embrace around each one of them. I ask for prayer and comfort for all who were touched by Mrs. Jackie's life in whatever capacity. Let them celebrate Mrs. Jackie's life in You, Lord!

I also pray for Jen and Rob during this time of Rob's father's illness. I pray that You bring healing to Rob's Dad. How difficult this must be for Jen and Rob--to finally be reunited with his family and then to be so far away during a time of illness. Give Jen and Rob Your comfort, Lord, Your peace, knowing that Rob's Dad rests in You, has total faith in You. I ask for continued healing for Rob's Dad as he has returned home from the hospital.

Help this family to stay united even with all the miles apart. Keep them in close contact with one another so that they may grow even closer together in You.

We praise You and bless Your Holy Name!!

In Your Son's most precious name, I pray,

Amen

My Adonai

Good Morning, and welcome to "The Lighthouse of Prayer".

We are a fairly new team here, and our concept is based totally on prayer ministry. If this is your first visit, please stop by here and read a little bit about our ministry--how we are joining together to lift others to God in prayer.

This is an interactive blog based on a comment and response system. We'd love to see your prayer requests, praises to God, and others will be supporting you through their prayers written as a response to your comment.

If you have a prayer request, a praise to God, a response to a previous prayer request, please write this in the comments section following the most recent post.

This morning, I'd like to share a little bit about myself. Many of you have been with me a while and know me. There are others of you who do not. So, I'd like to share my testimony with you this morning. Rather than take up space here since I have other things to share with you, you can take a minute to read my testimony here.

God, and God alone has changed my life. I've gone from a frightened woman--fearful of everything for many years, abused, neglected, depressed, angry and bitter--to a woman of strong faith, a pure and true belief in the power of God's might and strength in each of our lives.

God has changed me--a change only possible by my leaning on Him and into Him.

Only God has the power to change things in our lives. We may think that we do this on our own, but we do not. God is always watching, always listening for the voice of His children to speak to Him. Our journey with God is a continual one--ever changing as our walk deepens and continues with Him by our side.

My own personal goal in my journey is to grow deeper in God's love, to ask Him what areas of my life I need to totally surrender to Him and give Him complete control--not me, but God.

I would ask that if you have a prayer request, a praise to God to please feel free to share this today. If you don't feel comfortable leaving your name, that is fine. You are able to leave an anonymous comment also. We will pray with you and for you. If you're visiting someone else's blog, and they have shared something and are requesting prayer, please come and leave this prayer request with us and tell them that you are doing this.

In this way, more and more people will be praying for this person and whatever is on their hearts and minds.

God speaks to me in many ways, and one of ways He uses is music. I know from visiting others' blogs that this is the case with many of us. I'd like to share a video with you this Sunday morning--a song that has impacted my life. After the video, there will by my prayer to my God this morning.

I'm also asking that if you have a particular song that God has used to speak to you, that you share this with us--the name of the song, how it has impacted your life, and a short prayer of thanks to God.

My Adonai,

You have created the entire universe, a beautiful and wondrous place for us to enjoy and see You in Your sunrises, sunsets, the stars, all of nature.

I thank you, Adonai, for bringing me back to You. I was so far away and lost, but you saw me, saw my need for You in my life and used others to bring me back to You. And here I will stay until I see you in Heaven.

I was so afraid, alone--a frightened little girl inside a woman's body. Even though I can't see you, I know You are there, always watching and listening for me, Your child--this child that You love unconditionally. I can feel Your touch in my life daily--guiding me, directing me, embracing me. Yes, You are far away in the Heavens, but still close enough for me to feel You every moment of my life.

You have used me, LORD, to further Your good plans and purposes. I was fearful at first stepping out of my own home--totally out of my comfort zone. But, You encouraged me and now I am Your bold and courageous servant.

I thank You, Lord, for not just letting me stay where I was. You saw me, loved me and freed me from the chains that were holding me back. You taught me to love and trust again, and You have given me the hope I needed in my life when I thought all hope, trust and love were gone from me forever.

Yes, Adonai, I lift up my heart to You and I cry--My Adonai--my Father, my friend, my strength to carry on when I feel I have no more strength in me. You have blessed me in my life beyond my wildest imagination.

I thank You for all these that You have given me so that I could become that bold and courageous servant. I ask that You continue to use me in whatever way You see fit, and always supply me with the courage to say, "Yes, Lord" without hesitation.

I thank you for Your Son, Jesus Christ, My Savior and Redeemer. Where would I be without You in my life?

I will praise Your Holy Name today and forever.

In Jesus' Name,

Your bold and courageous servant,

Beth

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
