JANUARY PETITIONS for...

PRAYER and FASTING: SALVATION of FAMILIES

Even though the Prayer & Fasting time is over,we must continue to pray for SALVATION

It is only for the first week of January 2012, whereas there are others Fasting 21 days... etc. The link tells you the specific information and then each day has a plan emphasis. I'd love to share all of what they have shared, but it's best if you go there and catch and read. Hopefully, JOIN!

Lynn shares a beautiful quote from J. Franklin that I love then she writes:

"I want a fresh start in 2012. Do you?

Our fast will begin on sunrise of January 2nd and last through sunset of January 6th. That's this Monday. There are many ways to fast but if you are medically able, fast from food in some way. I am preparing to fast on a liquid fast for three days and then finish the week out with a Daniel fast. This is what I hear the Lord asking of me. What is He asking of you.

Do you want a breakthrough? Do you want to be rid of a habitual sin or a bad habit? More importantly, do you want to hear from the Lord what He wants for your life? What is His will in your marriage? I know I do."

The the plan follows starting at sunrise of Jan. 2nd to sunset Jan. 6th or longer if you are able or have more loved ones to pray for and focus on:

Monday, "pray for your spouse. Every aspect, his/her health, job, parenting, hobbies, his soul, heart, and emotional state. Pray to understand him better. Ask God to show you where you can be a better spouse and to give you the courage to take action in whatever area He reveals. Pray, pray, pray."

Great suggestion:

"Light a candle.

Each time you see the flame along with your hunger pangs; both will remind you to shoot up prayers."

Tuesday, "pray for your oldest child. All day. In the same manner. On days-three, four, and five pray for each subsequent child. If you have more than three kids double up days or extend your fast. If you don't have three kids, then pray for another significant relationship in your life."

Today’s Word:
This story about the company of prophets with Elijah has inspired me to talk to you about guidance and direction. The prophets got into a problem, they were doing what they were supposed to be doing when that axe head dropped into the water. The question that the Lord wants to ask you is, “Where did it fall? While you were in the process of obedience and doing what you were suppose to, where did you lose the axe head?”

Where did you lose the weight of what God has given you to do and entrusted to you in order to carry out His desire and design for your life? As you seek the Lord, He will do a miracle for you to resurface it, but don’t expect Him to lift it out. He will say to you, “You lift it out of the water.” Many times we get hung up on direction, because while we’re waiting on God to do something, He is waiting on us to do something. So press in! The Lord has an answer for you today.

OPERATION WORLD: Prayer for Today... 1/6/12 The Church Worldwide; For the first 11 days, the prayer focus is the WORLD

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.” (Isaiah 52:7-8)

The World— January 1-11: Listed here are some of the critical international hot spots most likely to cause turmoil, conflict, and suffering or even war in the coming years. These need to be covered in prayer:

1 The future of Jerusalem. (Israel)The world’s holiest city is probably also its most volatile flashpoint. Conflict between Israelis and Palestinians has resisted major international efforts to resolve it. The fundamental and seemingly irreconcilable differences between most Israelis and Arabs mean that any outbreak of serious conflict can easily embroil neighboring countries – especially Lebanon and Syria. Many feel that such a war is almost inevitable. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

I hope to add one for each day, in the comments, just like in the Daily Prayer from Germaine Copeland, because there are 30... and we should pray for #1 every day. Maybe God will lay one of these on your heart to continuing praying for that country.

Here are the ones for the first week of January:

2 The Korean Peninsula is shared between an untenable, failing dictatorship and an affluent but nervous democracy. If or when reunification comes, the main questions are whether it will happen peacefully and at what cost rebuilding the North will occur. War would be disastrous for both sides.

3 Somalia is a textbook example of a failed state; it is a broken land populated by warlords, pirates, an uprooted and exiled shambles of a government and a number of aggressive Islamist groups. The upheaval has spilled into the Horn of Africa and significantly affected marine traffic in the busy shipping lanes along its coast.

4 Central Africa, while not the cauldron of anarchy it was in the 1990s, retains much of the upheaval and unrest of those dark times. Eastern DRC and northwest Uganda in particular still suffer from the predations of lawless militias.

5 Afghanistan and Pakistan remain vulnerable to religious extremism. While the former has been stabilized significantly by heavy foreign military presence, religious terrorism and violence have gripped Pakistan in the past decade. The porous mountain borders between the two countries offer the ideal location for the Taliban to persist with their radical Islamist agenda. Both remain among the world’s most unstable and dangerous nations.

6 China’s growing self-confidence and assertiveness seem less of a threat externally as it seeks to engage the world as a financial, rather than a military, power. However, its increasing global strength is not without its opponents – and victims. There are also increasing tensions with the Uyghur and Tibetan minorities, the looming demographic and economic fallout of a rapidly aging population resulting from the One Child Policy and the massive gender gap with a shortfall of millions of females. All have serious consequences.

7 Iran is a regional power unto itself and the Shi’ite half of the West Asia/Middle East region. Its unbending stance on developing nuclear power and its notable influence in Iraq may put it on a collision course with other nations, particularly in the West. It also has its own internal stability issues.

8 The Mexico-US drug corridor is an area where the hedonistic excesses of American appetites effectively fund brutal wars between various drug cartels and government forces.
Tensions from immigration issues further fuel the fire.

From First to Last

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 4:2

Throughout His Word are other examples. Jacob wrestled with the Lord and called upon Him (Genesis 32:24-30). Daniel prayed three times a day (Daniel 6:6-10). David struggled with life circumstances; his Psalms give glimpses of his expressions in prayer. Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns to God (Acts 16:25).

Charles H. Spurgeon said, “We may be certain that whatever God has made prominent in His Word, He intended to be conspicuous in our lives. If He has said much about prayer, it is because He knows we have much need of it. So deep are our necessities, that until we are in Heaven we must not cease to pray.”

Beloved, continually lift your requests for comfort, strength, guidance for yourself and this nation, humbleness in daily living, and zealousness in proclaiming God’s saving grace. Rejoice in the privilege of fellowship with the Father."

Now the purpose of me sharing this is to put into practice here at The Lighthouse of Prayer, taking a scripture and turning it into a PRAYER. So I will choose one of the LONELINESS scriptures and personalize it into a prayer, with hopes that others may choose one and turn it into another prayer (you know where)... in the usual place for comments that we use here as "Prayers Lifted to God's Throne". I started this once before on Tuesdays known as "Topic 4 Tuesday" but no one participated. It's time to join together and PRAY for one another once again. This could last for 109 posts... it's up to you.

Lord God, You are a God of compassion! You will not fail me nor destroy me. You will not forget the covenant that You swore to our fathers.

I really do love this book!
I so appreciate the DAILY PRAYER from Germaine Copeland that changes each day here. I decided that I need a place to save these prayers each month. So I will be putting these prayers daily in the comments of this post and that way we will be able to come and read them any day.
I hope these prayers help you as they do me, to focus on scripture and pray God's Word.
Be sure to come back DAILY and catch the new PRAYER as it CHANGES, especially if you are without a prayer or words, this will stir your heart and you can pray these as you read... and then your prayers may come...

Almighty God, you are our Mighty Fortress, our refuge and the God in whom we place our trust. As our nation faces great distress and uncertainty, we ask your Holy Spirit to fall afresh upon your people — convict us of sin and inflame within us a passion to pray for our land and its people. Grant the leaders of our country an awareness of their desperate need of wisdom and salvation in You until sin becomes a reproach to all and righteousness exalts this nation.

Protect and defend us against our enemies and may the cause of Christ always prevail in our schools, courts, homes, and churches. Lord God, send a spirit of revival and may it begin in our own hearts.

Remember America, we pray. Remember the foundations on which this country was built. Remember the prayers of our nation’s fathers and mothers, and do not forget us in our time of need.In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
