the real 'bridge to serenity'

"Peaceful Pause"by James Coleman

I am returning to Praying the Word of God as we have been doing through great books mentioned HERE that take the best book written, The Bible, God's Word and pray scriptures.

Since there are so many verses, I have chosen to focus on scriptures by topics. Eventually, we will have many different posts and hopefully prayers shared by you on those verses. This will be a great reference for anyone to come and pray on that topic or in that need. Please choose a verse and share a prayer (be sure to reference the verse).

Thank you for standing in the gap and coming here to leave a prayer or prayer request. You are not limited by this list and free to pray whatever you are led to share through the power of His Spirit.

Take comfort from these verses, praying and asking the Lord to lift your burdens or those of others:
Luke 12:22-32
22 Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? 29 And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. 32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. NKJV
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (NLT)

Philippians 4:6-7

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

John 14:27

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. (NLT)

Psalm 4:8
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
1 John 4:18-19
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us. NKJV

Rom 8:13-15
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." NIV

And of course, Psalm 23, Psalm 91

For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

Encouraging Verses on PEACE; Verses on STRESS; Verses on WORRY

Mary Fairchild at About.com shares some wonderful articles like this one I've capsulized the main points below:
What does the Bible say about worry?

1. Worrying accomplishes absolutely nothing
2. Worrying is not good for you.
3. Worrying puts your focus in the wrong direction
4. Worrying is the opposite of trusting God.

Of course, we all know these reasons but we loose site. Worry, stress, anxiety can rob us and have destructive health effects. That's a device of the enemy.

Worries increase stress and anxieties and changes our focus to the things of the world, yet it seems that we can't escape them, trying to live in this world. It is in times like this, that we must give our minds, our bodies, all of us, completely over to JESUS and His thoughts, His ways, His remedies. It's all there in His Word & we need to continue pressing into His Word, surrounding ourselves with His Word, reading the verses over and over to battle with our flesh, our own mind.

Mary Fairchild cites some great verses as well for each point above in her article. [Matthew 6:27-29; Proverbs 12:25; Matthew 6:30; Matthew 6:25; Matthew 6:31-33; *1 Peter 5:7]

In "Prayers that Prevail", there are prayers Freedom from Worry and Freedom from Fear. The above scriptures and these should be prayed against Worry.

Claim these truths of God's Word and pray it, believing...
Lead us Lord, to Your Peace that passes all understanding...

[Might I suggest making index cards with each of these verses in your favorite translation.]

Mic 7:8................. "Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me." Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for not giving the enemy power over me. No matter how many times I may fall, You are there Father to help me get back up. I know I will arise up against the enemy everytime. When I sit in darkness, I will still have You Father, my forever bright ray of light. You will not allow the enemy to steal my joy. Thank You Father. I love You. Amen.

Philippians 1:3-11

I thank my God every time I remember you.

In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me.

God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:3-11 NIV

Heavenly Father, because I know You care for my sisters & brothers in Christ & me, I also know that I can cast all our cares upon You. (1 Peter 5:7)

Forgive us for worrying or allowing worry in; I know we don't have to bear our burdens alone. Thank You for inviting us to come to You and for Your wonderful promise of REST!
(Matthew 11:28)

I receive Your rest and encourage each friend & loved one to rest as well in You as we lay our burdens down.

When I look at my life as I know I should, I realize I have no reason for worry whatsoever.

Nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus Our Lord - not things past nor present, nor things yet to come. (Romans 8:38,38)

Thank You Jesus, for reassuring me that You are working Your purposes out in my life and that You are the Master of circumstances.

You have promised to supply all our needs. (Phi. 4:19)

There is no fear in Your love because Your perfect love casts out all fear. (1 John 4:18)

You have told us, Father, not to fear because it is Your good pleasure to give us the Kingdom.
(Luke 12:32)
I resolve to never lose sight of Your precious promises in Your Word.

Lord, You have commanded us not to worry about anything. Instead, You want us to spend our time in prayer and supplication and to let our requests be known unto You with thanksgiving. (Phi; 4:6-7)

Lord, how thankful I am that You have provided prayer and praise as practical outlets to prevent us from worry.

I will take no thought for tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. I will take one day at a time, Lord, because You have shown me that this day's trouble is enough for one day. (Matthew 6:34)

Standing on the Promises of Your Word, therefore, I come unto You now.

Lord Jesus, I receive Your love as I pray, and I place all my worries and cares in Your hands and each one who comes here with worry, knowing fully that You take care of everything that is given to You.

Thank You for caring about me so much and also for each person burdened who comes here.

I love You, Lord! Thank You!

My Lord,

I have read and pondered on these verse regarding anxiety, worry, stress.....and I know how these things can take my focus far from You and into the darkness.

Through Your gracious kindness and loving care, You have lifted the anxiety and worries from my life knowing that You care, love and will provide for me. I carry these promises from You in my heart and mind.

I come to You today for my daughter. You know her Lord, but she does not really know You. She knows of You, and I pray that You will bring her closer and closer to You so that she may experience the fullness of Your grace and release from the anxiety and worries of unknown things that are plaguing her.

I implore You to bring her to You. She needs You in her life and the life of her little one. I sense that You are pursuing her in this way for You are relentess in Your love and want her in Your Kingdom.

Lord, today, I pray that You reach out and touch her...that she will feel Your touch upon her and release her from her anxieties and stress and worries that are occupying her mind and replace them with loving thoughts from You.

Only then will she feel Your peace and truly understand what a loving Father You are. She has not had the proper father image in her life, and I fear that this is what is keeping her from totally committing herself to You.

Please, Abba, replace her images of her father with images of You....You in all Your love and glory and peace and forgiveness of all her sins.....so that she may come to You in all love and receive Your greatest gift...Your own Son who gave His life for her.

You know my heart, Lord. You know my thoughts. I give them all to You and reach out to you for my daughter.

Thank You, my Father for loving me and for loving her. Continue Your relentless pursuit of her until she comes to realize that You are the answer to her anxiety and worries.

Thank you giving us the most precious gift we can ever receive...Your Son, Jesus.

Your daughter,

Beth

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
