PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – 2009
by
Stormie Omartian
Lord, we ask that you would pour out your Spirit upon our nation. Shine your light into the dark places of our land and expose the works of evil. We, Your people, have heavy hearts over what we see happening in our country and so we unite in prayer to confess the sins of our nation and to seek Your forgiveness. We specifically ask Your forgiveness for the violence, murder, deception, robbery, corruption, idol worship, and all other forms of godless behavior that have been allowed to flourish here. Forgive us and lead us in Your way. Teach us to follow You without compromise. Help us to pray more than criticize. Soften the hearts of people who have set themselves against You. Open their eyes to see Your truth. Open their ears to hear Your voice. How grateful we are that You are a God of mercy and You hear our prayers when we call to You. We ask for Your mercy upon us now.
Where greed and ignorance have been our downfall, bring us as a nation back into alignment with your righteous principles. We pray especially that You will protect our children – both living and unborn – so that they will be preserved physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for your purpose and glory. Put a stop to all violence against children in any form. Expose anyone who would do evil against a child before it happens. Bring the children of our land who have strayed from your ways back to You.
We ask that You would raise up Holy Spirit-led leaders in our state and national governments. Remove those who are corrupt or do not follow Your ways. Guide our President and his advisors and all of our Congressmen and Senators to always do the right thing. Give them godly wisdom to make correct decisions. Replace the ungodly with those who serve You. Raise up righteous judges who will be chosen to uphold the law according to Your Word. Protect us from our enemies, keep our economy from failing, and bring us back to be the nation we were meant to be.
We lift up praise to You and thank You that because You are our Lord, we are never without hope. Thank you that because You work powerfully through our prayers, we can see things turn around. Help us to pray as often and as fervently as we should. Enable us to pray according to Your will so that we can continue to enjoy Your hand of blessing upon our land.
In Jesus’ name we pray.

A WOMAN'S PRAYER LIFE
1 O God, You are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen You in the sanctuary
and beheld Your power and Your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise You as long as I live,
and in Your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise You.
6 On my bed I remember You;
I think of You through the watches of the night.
7 Because You are my help,
I sing in the shadow of Your wings.
8 My soul clings to You;
Your right hand upholds me.
9 They who seek my life will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
and become food for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God's name will praise Him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

HERE I AM LONGING...
Isaiah 40:31

ANSWERS & MY PRAYERS...
WILL MY PRAYERS EVER BE ANSWERED?
I believe in Holy Ghost timing. In God’s own time, all our prayers will be answered—one way or another—but the trouble is, we are afraid to submit our prayers to Holy Ghost scrutiny. Some of our prayers need to be purged because often our faith is misspent on requests that are not mature. We do not know how to pray, “Thy will be done.” We don’t want his will as much as those things permitted by his will.
Abraham exercised his faith to keep reminding himself he was a stranger on this earth. His blessing pact produced only a tent to dwell in, because he put all his faith in that city whose builder and maker is God.
Were some of these faith warriors not living in faith? Did God refuse to answer some of their prayers? After all, not all of them were delivered and not all lived to see answers to their payers. Not all were spared pain, suffering and even death. Some were tortured; others were torn asunder, wandering about destitute, afflicted, and tormented (Hebrews 11:36-38).
Some who had a reputation for having great faith “received not the promise” (Hebrews 11:39). Those who did “obtain promises” used their faith to work righteousness, to gain strength in times of weakness, and to put the enemy to flight.
Don’t worry about whether God is saying “Yes” or “No” to your request. Don’t be downcast when the answer is not in sight and, please, quit concentrating on faith formulas and methods. Just commit every prayer to Jesus and go about your business with confidence. He will not be one moment early or late in answering, and if the answer you seek is not forthcoming, say to your heart, “He is all I need. If I need more, he will not withhold it. He will answer in his time and in his way. And if he does not fulfill my request, he must have a perfect reason for not doing so. No matter what happens, I will always have faith in his faithfulness.”
God forgive us if we are more concerned about getting prayers answered than in learning total submission to Christ himself. We do not learn obedience by the things we obtain but by the things we suffer. Are you willing to learn by suffering a little longer with what appears to be an unanswered prayer? Will you rest in his love while patiently waiting for the promise?

GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER: Pentecost Sunday!
You have heard His Story,
You have seen His Glory,
Now, obey His Call…
CALL 2 ALL
It's PENTECOST SUNDAY!
As we celebrate Pentecost Sunday today, let us acknowledge His active role in our lives. As He is our guide and protector, let us entrust to Him ourselves – our actions and our daily activities so that through His guidance and protection, we may not fall into the temptations of this world and choose always to follow God.

PRAYER for Our Nation
"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --
