A Blessed & Happy New Year

... let's start the year right in prayer for one another ...

PERSONAL PRAYER REQUESTS and HOW THE LIGHTHOUSE WORKS

If this is your first visit, please stop by here and read a little bit about our ministry--how we are joining together to lift others to God in prayer. However, what you read here and in the posts is actually enough.

Maybe you come across someone that needs prayer while visiting blogs, instead of just saying, "Praying for you", do so and bring their prayer need and leave your prayer here and let them know that you left a prayer for them at the Lighthouse of Prayer

This is an interactive blog based on a comment and response system. YOU are a part of our Prayer Team - the minute you add your prayer in the comment area or leave one for someone else in the reply under their prayer.

PLEASE WRITE YOUR PRAYER, PRAYER REQUEST, PRAISE, THANKS - in the place that would normally read COMMENTS after the most recent post, but here it reads "PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD"... since a LINKY is no longer available. We begun using a PRAYER REQUEST LINKY, but if it's not there, please leave PRAYER or REQUEST in "PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD" (the area for comments but do not write a comment) Thank you so much! Looking at this new template, it's difficult to know how to leave a comment (Prayer) but just click on the part that says __ comments. [it __ shows a number for how many comments/prayers are currently posted]

We'd love to see your prayer requests and praises to God in this area and hopefully others will be supporting you through their prayers written as a response to your prayer there. Be sure to come back and see the prayers lifting you and yours together to the LORD or leave one! You can also remain anonymous, God knows you.

Please remember NO COMMENTS, only PRAYERS! It is important that this be a house of prayer. Any comment, not as a prayer or prayer request will be deleted. Thanks again!

Please read announcement in Oct. 2014 first to understand better the lack of activity here! Thank you.

2010 Prayer for Our Nation

By Franklin Graham, 2010 Honorary Chairman

Lord,
We are thankful for your abundant blessings You have bestowed on America. Our forefathers looked to You as Protector Provider and the Promise of hope. But we have wandered far from that firm foundation. May we repent for turning our backs on Your faithfulness.

We pray that this great nation will be restored by Your forgiveness. From bondage, You grant freedom. Through Your own sacrifice, You offer salvation. From the state of despair, You offer peace. From the bounties of Heaven, You have blessed – not because of our goodness – but by Your grace.

You have given us freedom to worship You in spirit and in truth as Your holy Word instructs. May our lives honor You in word and deed. May our nation acknowledge that all good things come from the Father above.

President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that our nation should set apart a day for national prayer to confess our sins and transgressions in sorrow, “yet with an assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon … announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.

“We have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our own hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and nature of our own … we have too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us! It behooves us then … to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”

Help us to pray earnestly for our president and leaders who govern, that they will humble themselves and seek Your guidance so that everything we do will shine the light of Your glory in a darkened world.

May our prayers as a people and a nation be heard and blessed for such a time as this. We make this plea in faith, believing in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord.

Amen.

Blessed Father, God of the Land and the Sea, we thank you that the winds in the Gulf of Mexico have quieted down for a day or so. We pray that you would give wisdom and protection to all who are working on the oil spill. We ask that you calm the severe rains and winds in Tennessee. For the sake of your people, Lord. Amen.

I pray that our nation will come together and join hearts with one God under this nation and we would learn to trust God in all things. I pray that God will keep our military personnel safe wherever they may be. I pray God touches the hearts of many through the Holy Spirit. I pray our people turn to God and not to violence. I pray God will listen to His people and I ask all these things in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen

Heavenly Father...to whom all authority belongs, we come before You on behalf of our nation and individually to plead Your mercy & Your forgiveness! Lord as the song below this says, "if we ever needed You...Lord, it's NOW..." My heart aches as I look at the failings of our nation and the liberals that desire to quench the spirit of our nation united in prayer! I am so thankful that we are still able to PRAY whether or not the Pentagon accepts it or a court judge says it's unconstitutionally. We need to preserve our religious freedom & exercise our right to PRAY & we must PRAY daily for our leadership and people defending our nation.
Father, protect us as a nation and our religious freedom & prayer! Save us Lord and bring our nation to their knees and repentance! I agree with my dear sister above's prayer and ask that we would turn our hearts to God humbly as a nation and that Your Spirit would move & rise up within the church!
So many needs and we indeed must turn from our wicked ways & hear from God! Be with us as we come before You on the National Day of Prayer and may many sign the petition with the Presidential Prayer team! It is time to defend our Christian nation and roots! This nation was established on principles and for religious freedom! God bless America! Many of us love You Lord & desire that You reign in our hearts and in our nation! In Jesus Name we pray and believe and thank You for the people who cried out in prayer today and each day.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
