Compassion

In the Gospels we read about Jesus who was moved with compassion. Blind eyes were opened, the lame could walk, a withered hand was restored to wholeness, the dead were raised. This compassion is so much more than feeling sorry for someone — this compassion spurs us to pray, to offer help, to do something about a situation, to give hope to the hopeless. We reach out to others in love, and we make a difference in this world, in the lives of people. It is more than trying to fix someone, it is a desire to do the works of Jesus. Compassion is defined as a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. Let us be about the Father’s business that He might be glorified.

PRAYER:

Lord, cleanse me from all impurities and put a new heart and a new spirit within me. Remove my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh that will be sensitive and compassionate to the needs of others. In Jesus’ name, help me to see others as you see them and to hear and answer their cries just as you would. Today, I will look for opportunities to bless others. Amen.

Submission

Submission is a willingness to yield or surrender. Today I’m talking about submission to a Higher Power – the God who made us. He doesn’t demand that you submit; He gave you a free will. Do you every wonder what would have happened in the Garden of Eden if Adam had submitted to God’s instruction? He chose to disobey God. When I read the first three chapters of Genesis, I realize that it was God’s plan to have a close relationship with His children. Through Christ Jesus we have access to God and His original plan for man if we yield to His instruction, if we humble ourselves before Him. Jesus said, If you abide in Me and My Word abides in you, ask whatever you will and it shall be done for you.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I humble myself before You, Your will not mine be done. I will mediate on your Word day and night. By the grace of God I will be an obedient doer of your Word, so my pathway will be prosperous and successful. I renew my mind to your Word, and pray that your Word will dominate my thoughts, words and actions. I submit to Truth so that I will not be seduced or deceived by the works of the devil. I am strong in you, Lord, and in the power of your might. Today, I choose Life and the Blessings of Deuteromony 28. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Overcoming Discouragement

A major hindrance to success is discouragement. A plan, dream, or vision is developed in stages, and at those times when it seems nothing is working a feeling of discouragement moves in. This is an opportunity to review and reaffirm your vision. In 1 Samuel 30:6 David was greatly distressed, but he encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God. At those times when you feel alone and abandoned by those who had walked beside you, talk to yourself. Declare that you are a co-laborer with God who will never leave you, never forsake you. Persevere and allow the Spirit of God to rekindle the fire and excitement you had in the beginning. He is effectually at work in you, and when you commit your plan to the Lord, He will establish it and bring it to pass. Abraham Lincoln said: Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed.

PRAYER:

Father, I thank you for giving me a vision, a purpose and a plan. Give me your heart, your compassion for humanity. I offer my body as a living sacrifice to be your instrument of righteousness – that I might be a true representative of your Kingdom. It is my desire to fulfill my divine destiny, and be successful according to your will. I am here to serve you and love you in the beauty of holiness. Lead me in the way I should go, and with the Holy Spirit as my Helper, I will do great exploits for your Kingdom and others shall know that you are their Help, Redeemer and Salvation. Amen.

Peace

In the fall of 2008 our prayer team was on tour in North Africa. In the last resort where we stayed on the Mediterranean Sea David had four nights to cultivate a dialogue with the hotel dining room manager, staff and other guests. They discussed many things learning about each other’s culture and why Americans would come to their country. One night at the end of a conversation the Tunisian told David all we want is peace. That’s the heart cry of people from around the world. I remember those years I sought for peace – peace with myself and with God. I’ll never forget the day when my inner turmoil was transformed and I began reading the Bible. In John 14:27 Jesus said, Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] Jesus Himself is our peace.

Prayer:

Father, you alone are my Strength, my Rock, my Fortress, my Deliverer and my Shield. Jesus, you are my peace. Your Word declares that my enemies will not triumphant over me. Because my ways are pleasing to you, Lord, you make my enemies to be at peace with me. Lord, you are my Shepherd who prepares a table of abundance for me in the presence of my enemies, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Victory over Fear

Lord, I thank you for your steadfastness. You will never leave me nor forsake me. You are always with me. You sent the Holy Spirit to be my Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Teacher and Guide. I resist fear; I will not be dismayed because you uphold me with your victorious right hand in the name of Jesus.

Salvation

Father, I thank you for giving your only Son that I might be saved. You paid the awesome price of the blood of your Son to redeem my life from destruction. You looked through the eons of time and chose me as your very own. The blood of Jesus paid the price for the divine destiny you placed in me, which I purpose to live to the full. Thank you for your unconditional love, and your ability to love others even as you have loved me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Praying for Others

Lord, even though others misunderstand and talk about me, I will keep right on praying for them. Thank you for giving me the strength to love my enemies, to do good to those who hate me. I ask you to bless those who have hurt me, and pray for their happiness. For now is the time—you are bending down to hear! You are ready with a plentiful supply of love and kindness. Thank you for answering my prayer, for your loving kindness is wonderful; your mercy is so plentiful, so tender and so kind. Nothing – no activity, work, or relationship – has meaning without you as the center of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Running the Race

Father, you have given me a spirit of excellence, and in the name of Jesus I will run the race in a manner that is pleasing to you. Holy Spirit, daily you energize me to run with the Divine vision imparted to my heart. I have written the vision and, Father, I accept your appointed time for its fulfillment. I submit my thoughts, attitudes and behavior to the control of the Holy Spirit that I might walk worthy of this divine calling. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Trust

Father, I thank you for the Holy Spirit who brings all things to my remembrance. As far as I am concerned, Father-God you turn to good what is meant for evil. You brought me to the position I hold today for the benefit of others. I rest in you knowing that in all things you are working for my good because I love you, and you called me according to your purpose. I will trust in you, Lord, at all times for your ways are perfect. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Victory Over Opposition

LORD, I sing to you for you are highly exalted. You are my strength and my song; you have become my salvation. You are my God, and I will praise you, my father’s God, and I exalt you. LORD, you are a warrior; the LORD, Jehovah, is your name. You have overthrown my enemies, deep waters have covered them; they sank to the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power and shatters the enemy. In the greatness of your majesty you have thrown down those who oppose me. Thank you for the victory in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

God’s Favor

Heavenly Father, thank you for directing and establishing my steps. Today I walk the path you blazed for me. When I walk, my steps will not be hampered; when I run, I will not waste time making wrong turns. As I walk along in the ever-brightening light of God’s favor the dawn gives way to morning splendor. Thank you Father, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

LORD, your Word says that we are to be holy to you, because you are holy, and you have set us apart to be yours. LORD, thank you for choosing us as your treasured possession. You live in us, and walk among us. You are our GOD and we are your people – the sheep of your pasture. Spiritual Armor

In the name of Jesus, I arm myself with the full armor of God; armor, which God has supplied for me…the helmet of salvation…loins girded with truth…feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace…the shield of faith…and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With God’s armor on, I am able to stand up against all the strategies, deceits and fiery darts of the devil. I am more than a conqueror through him who loves me. Amen.

For Husbands

Father, thank you for husbands who take responsibility for their families just as Christ does for the church. We pray that they will hunger and thirst after righteousness, and be satisfied. They will have no need to be domineering, but cherishing. Each husband will go all out in his love for his wife, exactly as Christ did for the church – a love marked by giving not getting. Their children will be honored everywhere for they have a special heritage. Wealth and riches shall be in their houses and their generosity will never run dry. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

For Wives

Father, thank you for godly wives who are beautiful inside, in their hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and quiet spirit that is so precious to you. We pray that they will seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and not worry about missing out on anything you’ve provided. Give them wisdom and spiritual understanding as they support their husbands in ways that show their support for Christ. Help each one be a blessing and receive blessings as she fits in with her husband’s plans. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Health

In the name of Jesus I purpose to serve the LORD my God, and your blessing is on my food and water. You promised to take sickness from the midst of me. I prosper and am in health even as my soul prospers in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Marriage

Father, we pray that the institution of marriage will be strengthened and regarded as holy unto the Lord. May husbands and wives rejoice and delight themselves in one another. We pray that they will learn to function so that each preserves individuality while responding to the desires of each other. This unity of persons is a mystery, but that is how it is when two people are united to Christ. So we pray that each will love and honor the other, and that they will let the miracle keep happening! In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Holy Spirit, work in mightier power in the Church, for the exaltation of Christ and the blessings of souls. We need the power of the Holy Spirit working in our personal and business relationships. PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --
