If this is your first visit, please stop by here and read a little bit about our ministry--how we are joining together to lift others to God in prayer. However, what you read here and in the posts is actually enough.

Maybe you come across someone that needs prayer while visiting blogs, instead of just saying, "Praying for you", do so and bring their prayer need and leave your prayer here and let them know that you left a prayer for them at the Lighthouse of Prayer

This is an interactive blog based on a comment and response system. YOU are a part of our Prayer Team - the minute you add your prayer in the comment area or leave one for someone else in the reply under their prayer.

PLEASE WRITE YOUR PRAYER, PRAYER REQUEST, PRAISE, THANKS - in the place that would normally read COMMENTS after the most recent post, but here it reads "PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD"... since a LINKY is no longer available. We begun using a PRAYER REQUEST LINKY, but if it's not there, please leave PRAYER or REQUEST in "PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD" (the area for comments but do not write a comment) Thank you so much! Looking at this new template, it's difficult to know how to leave a comment (Prayer) but just click on the part that says __ comments. [it __ shows a number for how many comments/prayers are currently posted]

We'd love to see your prayer requests and praises to God in this area and hopefully others will be supporting you through their prayers written as a response to your prayer there. Be sure to come back and see the prayers lifting you and yours together to the LORD or leave one! You can also remain anonymous, God knows you.

Please remember NO COMMENTS, only PRAYERS! It is important that this be a house of prayer. Any comment, not as a prayer or prayer request will be deleted. Thanks again!

Please read announcement in Oct. 2014 first to understand better the lack of activity here! Thank you.

365 Days to a Prayer Filled Life
Clearly, I could not agree MORE!!!

Let's fill our lives with prayer and if you don't think you know how to pray just say the ones that Germaine writes and learn by looking at how she takes the scripture verses and turns them into prayers. You too can do this. There is no wrong or right way to pray, it's simply talking to God.

Please do not try to leave personal prayers here or prayer requests! (if you catch it open) For this reason comments are closed... so that this is only for DAILY PRAYERS of GERMAINE COPELAND!

Germaine Copeland's Daily Prayer said...

Edward had devoted 35 years of his life to a southern utility company, and intended to stay there until his retirement. His good reputation became known throughout the organization after he was promoted to management; his diligence and hard work had been rewarded many times. In spite of his excellent work record the promotions stopped, while others with less experience were advancing. He rejoiced with them when they received promotions for which he was better qualified. Rather than becoming bitter, he remained loyal, even helping those who had once worked for him. Another promotion did come but not in the manner he expected. He was offered a position with a another company that far exceeded his expectations. The promotion had come from the north. Promotion may not come when you want it to, but it will come if you remain faithful.

Heavenly Father, according to your Word promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. God, you are the judge: you put down one person, and set up another. Im content to be myself so that I will become more than myself. I choose being humble and reverent toward you, Lord, and you will make me both wise and honored in the name of Jesus. I write mercy and truth upon the tablets of my heart, and you cause me to find favor with God and with man. Thank you for my promotion that comes from the north at your bidding that I might fulfill my destiny. Amen.

Affirmation of My Desire
It was a beautiful Sunday in Christiansburg, Virginia when I had the opportunity to visit a morning church service. Pastor Rob Sowell gave an illustration of being controlled by the Holy Spirit. He talked about how you can carry a cup half filled with coffee rather carelessly, but if the cup is filled to the brim you are mindful of how you walk. Filling your mind with the Word will change the way you think, talk and walk. The more I have studied and meditated on the Word of God, the more alert I have become to my desires; some intensified while others were replaced. As you work out your salvation, God effectually works in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. Choose to affirm Gods Word every daybe filled with the Holy Spirit.

My desire is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before others or have their good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Amen

O my Lord, you are my Shepherd, and I have everything I need. You are ever true to Your Word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with You forever in your home. Amen

Heavenly Father, may my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who helps me maintain an attitude of prayer, and even helps me when I don’t know how or what to pray. Thank you for hearing me whether I’m praying aloud or reaching out to you in silence. Jesus, you are my example in prayer, and whatever I ask for in prayer, I believe that it is granted me, and I will receive it. In the name of Jesus and with the help of the Holy Spirit, I will pray without ceasing. Amen

Daily Prayer for June 13, 2012

Heavenly Father, understanding the present time, I have awakened from my slumber, because my salvation is nearer now than when I first believed. So I put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let me behave decently, as in the daytime. I clothe myself with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. I bind compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience to myself–writing them on the tablets of my heart in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Godly Wisdom

Father, there isn’t a challenge I will ever face that will be too hard for You to solve. Nothing can outsmart You. The world’s wisdom is foolishness in Your sight. Your wisdom is increasing in me as I meditate on Your Word. It leads, guides and protects me. It gives me greater insight and credentials than the world has to offer. You have said in Your Word that the person who gets wisdom loves his own soul. I cherish understanding and I will prosper for your glory. Hallelujah! Amen.

Daily Prayer for June 11

Lord, the plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to me, but from You comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but You, Lord, weigh the spirits (the thoughts and intents of the heart). I roll my works upon You [commit and trust them wholly to You; You will cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your will, and] so shall my plans be established and succeed. In the name of Jesus I thank You for directing my paths. Amen

I Run to Win

Father, I thank you for all the pioneers who blazed the way, all the veterans cheering me on. I will never quit! I lay aside every weight and every sin that would hinder me. I fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. I am running to win. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Amen

All is Well

Jesus is Lord, and everything is all right! Your plan is to prosper me and not to harm me. Your plan is to give me hope and a future. Thank you for listening to me when I call upon you, when I am praying to you. I love you because you first loved me. And I know that in all things, Father-God you work for my good because I choose to love you. I have been called according to your purpose. Even in the face of adversity I declare, “All is well.” Amen

Father, I approach the throne of grace with joyful confidence. The joy of the Lord is my strength! Lord, you are my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Thank you for filling me with strength and protecting me wherever I go. I stagger not at the promise of God through unbelief; but I am strong in faith, giving glory to God—strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Jesus is Lord over my spirit, soul and body. Amen

I am Happy!

Father, I am tried of walking around in sadness with this long, unhappy expression. I ask you to expose the source of this unhappiness, and forgive me for wrong perceptions about you and about myself. You have made me glad and I rejoice before you. I choose to be happy from the inside out, and from the outside in. I am glad and rejoice before you, my God; I am happy and joyful. My happy heart makes my face cheerful, and my eyes rejoices the heart of others. I am a happy, jovial, cheerful and tenacious child of God. Thank you Jesus for your joy. It is fulfilled in me. One Thing Do I Seek

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple. LORD, I seek you with my whole heart, and desire to walk in your ways. I praise you today with uprightness of heart. With my whole heart I seek you; do not let me wander from your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O LORD! Teach me your statues, in the name of Jesus, I pray. You are a Rewarder of those who diligently seek you. Amen

God Answers Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I come into your presence with thanksgiving. It is by fearful and glorious things [that terrify the wicked but make me sing praises] that you answer my prayers in righteousness (rightness and justice). You are the God of my salvation. You are my confidence and hope. I know that in the morning you hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for you and watch and wait [for you to speak to my heart]. Thank you for answering me from your holy heaven with the saving strength of your right hand. For in you, O Lord, do I hope; you will answer, O Lord my God. I love you with all that is within me, and I praise your holy name.

Day 21
Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. LORD, I thank You for restoring my soul. You are faithful and will restore to me the years that the locust has eaten. I release all resentment and grief over past losses, and I shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied. I praise the name of the Lord my God that has dealt wondrously with me: and I shall never be ashamed. You are the Lord my God. Amen

It's Time to Pray

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
