PRAY FOR OUR NATION

Today (May 7th) is National Day of Prayer! Although we certainly should be praying for our nation more than just today ...
NDOP
"The mission of the National Day of Prayer is to mobilize prayer in America
and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture."

Since "The Lighthouse of Prayer" is basically on its own and no longer being updated and maintained, it is still a place of prayer so we could/should not overlook this day and the need to join in and PRAY!

Your prayers are welcome here or you can post them on the official PRAYER WALL at PPT and WATCH LIVE(if you are able).

The theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear Our Cry, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men.  To further highlight the theme, I Kings 8:28 was chosen as the Scripture for this year:  “Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.” Click HERE for Dr. Jack Graham's (2015 National Prayer Honorary Chairman) National Prayer.

...FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS...

Let us pray

DAY 1

14 May 2015

THE INVISIBLE GOD

Our Father in heaven, You are our Creator.
You have chosen to reveal yourself to us as humans, through your Son Jesus Christ.

It is still hard for us to imagine what You look like, although Jesus said that if we had seen Him, we had also seen You.

He came to show us what You are like.

Through His work we know that You are compassionate, merciful, forgiving, slow to anger and rich in love.

Jesus demonstrated to us that You like people, You love us and You want to be in a relationship with us.

Thank you for making it possible, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that we can know You.

Will You reveal yourself again to us in this special time of celebrating the ascension of Jesus to sit at Your right hand?

Jesus asked You to reveal to us the glory You gave Him.
We need that revelation, and to be transformed while beholding Him and You, into His image.

Our world needs a revelation of the True God.

As the Church, we long for You to manifest yourself in our midst and through our actions.

Love through us, show compassion through us and demonstrate your righteousness and justice through our thoughts, word and deeds.

Amen.

Day 2 The Son of God

Lord Jesus Christ, our Father demonstrated His love for us by sending You to become one of us.
You were willing to humble yourself, to leave your place of glory that You had
with the Father, to become one with your creation.
It is a mystery that we can hardly comprehend.
We look at You, hoping and longing to see our Father.
Thank You, that You made it possible for us to be reconciled with Him.

Thank You, that through your humility and willingness to give yourself as our sacrifice, we can also become sons and daughters of the Father.
Thank You for the Spirit of Adoption, for the New Covenant and for the working of the Blood.
Help us to understand what true humility means.
Help us to grasp the awesome power of repentance and forgiveness that is available to us as humans, to deliver us from the hand of Satan, to redeem us from all curse and to transfer us from darkness into your kingdom.
As we look unto You, where You are seated at the Father’s right hand, draw our hearts and minds to where You are.
As we partake of your divine nature, help us to overcome the constant battle
against our own flesh, our own desires and the temptations of the world around us.

May the Church in our generation become Sons of God and be like You!

Amen.

Father help us prepare our hearts and lives like never before for Pentecost Sunday! In the Name of Jesus, I come against the spirit of anti-Christ rising up in our nation and perhaps in other nations as well. How absurd it is O Lord, that people in the USA are being fired or dismissed for using the word "blessing" or "blessed day" (etc.) at work to greet people or wish them well with God. [read more at PPT,daily devotional for May 14, "Have a Blessed Day"]
We weep for this nation and this sad day when we can loose our job for blessing others from You. Father, do not take away Your blessing from us. Stop this threat and restore the jobs of these people double fold for not giving in and blessing in Your Name. Give the Chicago security officer, the Walmart Greeter in Georgia, the bank teller in Kentucky something better and the courage to continue to stand boldly declaring Your blessing. May the USA beg for more blessings and not curse those who bless. May we beg for more of You in us and more of Your blessings in our nations and a cease to this foolishness of this dismissal of workers for using the blessing. Restore us O Lord.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
