CALL TO PRAY in ONE ACCORD

My 2009 Daily Bible Reading Guide from the American Bible Society is "Called to Be Free".

For the month of January, my readings were "Called to Be Free to Follow Jesus", which has me now reading in ACTS. For February it will be "Called to be Free to Share God's Love."

A.C.T.S. is the prayer pattern that guides us in how to pray besides the model of the "Lord's Prayer" - "The Our Father" taken from Jesus Himself. To read about this you can check with Beth's post on The Power of Your Love - A Quiet Time with God. My point here is that from the first churches in Acts until this day, we, the body of Christ, need to ACT together. Jesus Christ came and is waiting still for us to UNITE and pray as ONE - United in one accord!

The week of January 18th to the 25th was "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity"... an ecumenical movement to join churches in the northern hemisphere together to PRAY! The southern hemisphere will do this around the day of Pentecost. So it's flexible, as to when we PRAY.

In the year 2009, Christians around the world will pray for unity: “that they may be one in your hand” (Ezekiel 37: 17).

Ezekiel – the name meaning “God makes him strong” – was
called upon to give his people HOPE in the desperate religious and political situation following the fall and occupation of Israel, and the exile of many of its people. Korea chose the theme based on UNITY because of their own situation within a divided country and the parellels with Ezekiel. It is these biblical themes - unity as God’s intention for God’s people; unity as God’s gift, but requiring conversion and renewal; unity as a new creation; and the hope that God’s people may yet be one - which have inspired the Korean churches for this Week of Prayer.

So it is my desire to CALL US TOGETHER from the various blogs to JOIN TOGETHER from our diverse backgrounds and desires of our hearts to PRAY AS ONE ACCORD!

That is one of the reason that the LIGHTHOUSE of PRAYER was formed. To free us up and share our prayers and prayer needs together in one place interactively. Many of us have PRAYER as a burden or goal for ourselves this year along with scripture memorization and Bible reading!

These are 3 worthwhile and intertwined steps to build our Christian walk. But if each of us do it apart from others and not together, we lose the entire purpose. We intend to pray more for one another, we may even say that we'll pray for someone, but here is the place to bring that person's prayer petition and hold them up together. We do not want to create another list of the many needs, though that is so wonderful, we want you to come here and actually pray for that person as you read of their need.

Tell them that you are bringing it to PRAYER at the LIGHTHOUSE of PRAYER and JUST DO IT! Perhaps you may want to ask them or invite them to share it here. It is up to you how you choose to handle and pray but be assured that others here will lift them with you. We respect each person's privacy and that's why you can pray anonymously. If people are writing their need on their post, that is making it public to be lifted to Our Lord. We must unite because there is power in UNITY!

There is POWER in prayer. There is POWER in the Word of GOD. When we combine these two dynamic sources with the POWER of the Holy Spirit in UNITY, an explosive spiritual energy is unleashed in any believer's life which results in renewed faith, victory and answered prayer.

The Bible assures us in *James 5:16, praying the Word is effectual and it avails much in the believer's life because PRAYING builds faith in each believer's heart. This UNITY & PRAYING scripture activates God's supernatural POWER.

Matthew 18:18-20

"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

Today, we'd like to try something different: a fill-in style of prayer but you are free to pray as you would like.

Heavenly Father,

Today I come before Your Throne for my friend_______________and
ask that You ___________________________in Jesus' precious Name.
Thank You......(if you are able, choose a verse and PRAY it)

Your loving friend and daughter of the King,
Peggy

Heavenly Father,

Today I come before Your Throne for my friend BETH and ask that YOU heal her from her illness and give her REST in Jesus' precious Name. Thank You for in Isaiah 53:5 it says:

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed
.
so Jesus was wounded for Beth's trangressions & He was bruised for Beth's iniquities, the chastisement for our peace, for Beth's peace was upon Jesus and by His Stripes Beth is healed. Thank You for Your Word! Amen.

Heavenly Father,

Today I come before YOUR Throne for my friend Rod and ask that YOU guide and direct him with YOUR wisdom through his job interview today. He is seeking whatever is Your Will in this job situation, and I pray that Your Will be done in this circumstance.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9)

Thus says the Lord, Your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go." (Isaiah 48:17)

I am asking, Lord, that You guide Rod's footsteps, pave the way in Your good plans for his future and always lead him in the way he should go.

Thank you for Your Word and always guiding and directing us.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen

Peggy, this will not be written in the form of a prayer, though the Lord knows it is written while in prayer. How wonderful to see the site; I was just stopping by your other to give a request when I read about this. Praise the Lord for the REAL POWER of PRAYER!!!! I believe in it because of who He is! So here is the request - February 25 - April 5 will be a time for prayer and fasting - 40 Days for Life. All across this nation and in Canada, Australia (and possibly Ireland again) people will come together - not to fight, condemn, preach, educate, humiliate or discriminate - but to pray for the Lord to have mercy and end the scourge of abortion on this land. We will pray not just to "save the babies" but to bringing true healing, hope and freedom to women who have been hurt so deeply by abortion, and for clinics to close down as they have in past 40 Days for Life prayer vigils. Truly, prayer in love, more than anything else we could do, can have a real result in changing hearts and minds. People will be in front of clinics in over 100 cities and they will be there around the clock, having signed pledges not to engage in arguments or unChristlike actions, but to pray with humility and love. Please friend, help me spread the word about this time of prayer - prayer is our true and, I believe, only hope for change in this area.
Lord Jesus, hear our hearts and heal our land. Thank You for your mercy toward everyone who calls on You with a sincere heart. Let every women hurt by the sin of abortion know it is not unpardonable, but that deep and lasting healing and freedom is available through You, our precious Savior, Rescuer and Redeemer, Jesus Christ our Loving Lord.

My Father,

I am lifting Paulette and Jack and all those who will be participating in the 40 Days of Life to You.

I pray that all who participate in this time of praying and fasting will use this time in YOUR NAME, perceive YOUR WILL for each individual.

You know, Lord, that there are women who are still healing from a decision they have made in the past. I pray that You bring them to You so they may seek forgiveness, deep healing through You, and in Your forgiveness also be able to forgive themselves.

I pray that this will be a peaceful time--a time of praying and seeking You in all ways, prayers of healing, showing others Your love, and that all those involved show Christ like attitudes in their dealings with others.

I love You, Lord, with all my heart. And I ask that You guide Paulette and Jack and all the others involved in this with Your grace and wisdom, for this has been truly placed upon their hearts by You.

I ask You for healing for our country, healing for all those who have been affected by this decision in the past realizing that Your forgiveness is deep and true, and that they will have freedom from their past in You.

I also pray for all those who are contemplating this decision in their lives at this moment--that they be guided by You--Your guidance, Lord, and no other.

All of this I pray in Your Son's NAME,

Amen

Abba,

As my day comes to a close, I want to thank you for all of those that you have led here today so that we may join them in prayer.

I thank you for providing for Peggy financially while she is Mexico doing Your work. Thank you for answering our prayers and keeping her safe and from harm's way.

I thank for placing Peggy, Denise, and Kathy into my life. They encourage and uplift me every single day. You knew I needed these people in my life, and so You have provided them to me.

And now, as I go to sleep for the evening, I know that You will watch over me and provide me a good night's rest. I ask the same for Peggy, Kathy and Denise--a good night's rest so that we can continue in YOUR good works.

I love You, God, and I can never thank You enough for bringing me back to You.

In Jesus' name,

Amen

Heavenly Father,

Today I come before Your Throne for my friends Marsha and Michele and ask that You supply both of them with Your peace and comfort.

I know they both rest in Your arms. Help them to feel Your presence more acutely during this time of health issues with so many in their family.

Please allow Marsha time to rest and refresh herself after her time away from her own home.

I, thank You, Lord, for Marsha's tender loving care for her stepdad and mom. Give her renewed strength.

I also thank you for Michele's long distance support for her sister through prayer to You.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
