PRAYER ALERT

Presidential Prayer Team - Prayer Alert

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

We are alerting our prayer members to pray for the event unfolding in West Virgina.

BULLETIN -- “MONTCOAL, W.Virginia. -- Toxic methane gas buildup forced rescuers to suspend efforts early Tuesday in finding four missing coal miners in West Virginia after a mine explosion killed 25 others in the deadliest such disaster in the United States in decades. The mine is located about 30 miles south of Charleston. Authorities have slim hopes that the missing miners could be found alive more than 1,000 feet underground amid a buildup of toxic methane gas. At least two miners were injured in the blast and remain hospitalized."

We ask that you take the time today to pray for:

For the families of those killed - that God would bring His undeniable presence and comfort to their hearts and minds as they face the loss of their loved ones.

For the rescue workers still on site - that the Lord will energize them and give them His wisdom to locate anyone who may still be alive. We also offer praise for those who were rescued, and thank God for the bravery and selflessness of the rescuers.

For the Massey Energy coal mine community - that God would use this tragedy to draw them together and help them find His peace, and even joy, in the midst of this disaster. Also, that He would help them take any measures that could prevent another explosion in the future.

For President Obama and our nation - that the Lord would work in and through us to remind us of His love and presence in these times of difficulty.

"Evening and morning, and at noon, I will pray and cry aloud; and He shall hear my voice." -Psalm 55:17

Ohhh Heavenly Father, We come to You on behalf of these many families affected once more by such tragedy!

Surround these families with support, comfort and Your undeniable Presence in the midst of their grief and waiting word and having heard the loss of their loved ones. Guard their hearts and their minds. Fill them with Your grace, love, peace and strength!

Be with each of the Rescue workers. Energize them. Give them Your divine wisdom and guidance to locate anyone who may still be alive. We give You praise for those who were rescued. We thank You for the bravery and selflessness of the Rescuers. You are our Rescuer! Save us, O Lord! Deliver us from such harm.

We lift up the Massey Energy coal mine community that You may use this to draw them together and help them be at peace, even joy, in the midst of this disaster. Help them to take any measures to prevent any other explosions in the future.

We lift our President and his family before You and our nation.
Protect us Lord. Work in us and through us. Remind each one in authority to not take their role lightly but to bow to Your authority and come to You humbly for wisdom and direction before making further decisions. Let each one know of Your unfailing love and Your awesome Presence to draw us closer to You, Our Supreme and Sovereign Lord of All. Meet each person and lead them to seek You first. Lead us and direct us! Have mercy on us and show each of us how to repent for our many wrong choices. Bring repentance and revival. Bring healing and Your Divine Intervention! We thank You and give You all glory & honor for all that You do and will do. In Jesus Name we pray and bow before You and trust in You, King of kings and Lord of lords. You are in control and we surrender all control and authority to You. Move Lord, not by might, nor by power but by Your Spirit. Protect us and deliver us...

“Heavenly Father, We praise you in all the circumstances of our lives and thank you for the reminder that "for this we have Jesus" Lord we do turn to you for comfort and strength during difficult and troubling times. We pray for the families of the mining disaster and for the leaders of our nation to be sensitive to their needs. Lord may we realize that when one hurts we all hurt. Their loss is our loss as a nation. May your comfort and holding hands be there as flesh and blood response. Come Lord Jesus, come. In His love and peace we pray, Amen.”

Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." Psalm 50:15

God, People in this world are looking for real faith. Some of them place that faith in the wrong god, whether a false god or material things or a person. I pray for everyone in the world, for those in my own "Jerusalem," and my own family. I pray that you would use me and my life experiences as an instrument to demonstrate real faith to the unbelieving. Give me opportunities to share my faith experiences and give me the words to say to influence those who need it. Speak through me, work through me, your servant. I love you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
