RESTING PLACE

This blog post was inspired by Sharon's "Sleepless in California" and I decided any of us, in any given day (or night in this case) may find ourselves in need of scriptures or verses and a "RESTING PLACE"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhwSPzWs-pc

Do you sleep well at nights?
Do you bring the problems of the day to your sleep?
Do your worries wake you in the middle of the night?
Do you go to sleep in dread of the following day?

Are you looking for ways to cure insomnia?

It doesn't have to be this way. If we look in the Bible, we can find a cure for insomnia.

BIBLE VERSES about INSOMNIA

Look what else I found an actual BLOG "THE CURE FOR INSOMNIA"
SLEEPY BIBLE VERSES

By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me - a prayer to the God of my life." -Ps 42:8 (NIV)

"I, (your name) lay down and slept…for the LORD was watching over me, (your name)… In peace I, (your name) will lie down and sleep, for You alone, O LORD, will keep me (your name) safe."
(Psalm 3:5 and 4:8)

If you need REST, or SLEEP or prayer, choose one of the verses and change it to prayer as I did the example above from Psalm 3:5 and Psalm 4:8. Put it on an index card along side your bed or under your pillow so when you find yourself not able to sleep, you can claim the verse or read the verses and God will grant you the sleep and rest you need.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
His love be with me through the night And wake me with the morning light And if I die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
In Jesus' name Amen

Other versions (very similar) of the above "Now I lay me down to sleep" prayer (if reading all of these doesn't put you to sleep-lol):0)

Thank You Lord for another day,
The chance to learn, the chance to play.
Now as I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Please, guard me Jesus through the night,
And keep me safe till mornings light.
But if should I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
And should I live for other days,
I pray that God will guide my ways.
Amen

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Heavenly Father, Your Word in Matthew invites me to come to You
when I am burdened, and when I am weary and You will give me rest.

I take Your yoke upon me to learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart. Help me find rest for my soul, as only You give.
Thank You for Your rest for me!

Your yoke is easy! Your burden is light! Take my burden and anything else that I may be yoked to and release me from their yoke on me, setting me free in Jesus Christ!

Father, I must admit, I have been weary as well but my weariness is in the burden of all the prayer requests and so few that seem to be praying! I thank You for any who pass this way and pray or leave a prayer request for someone else. I thank You for the faithfulness of Denise in writing out a prayer as we each should do. I come here often and weekly, weak in my own strength but in your power and by Your spirit I do pray for each one, I just do not write them out as I should as a way to encourage them.

Jesus, Teach us to pray and keep us from discouragement when we pray and pray or as we seek You for so many. Let us know that You are interceding for each one of these and so many unspoken and unknown needs. We thank You that You are sitted at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf.
Thank You. We are not worthy or deserving but so very grateful as You carry us and our burdens. Some are great and some are not, but each one matters to You! We love You! We give You all the praise, honor, glory and thanks for answered prayers, the "yes",the "no's" and even the "waits" and we await You meeting with us and encouraging us to pray for one another without ceasing! In every part of my day, may You hear me pray...

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
