GOD of COMFORT, GOD of DELIVERANCE

2 Corinthians 1

I recently signed up with Heartlight.org to receive via email "Praying with Paul". Since March, he has been sharing Corinthians I & II as Readings followed by PRAYERS. These are written and shared by Eldon Degge who turns Paul's writings into daily, powerful prayers

Today I want to share with you some examples because of the value and worth of each prayer seems to be needed by many of you, as I've passed through the blogs and read. Since I believe so strongly in prayer, united prayer, praying through Scriptures and the power of prayer because of Praying in the Name of Jesus, Our God, these just seem to be prayers we all could reflect & pray in one accord for our various needs.

I will start with May 16th, 2 Corinthians 1:3-11:

GOD of COMFORT

Dear Father, great and gentle one,Blessed are you, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You are the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. You comfort us in our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort others who are in affliction with the same comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by you.You enable us to know that as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we shall share abundantly in comfort too.

Thank you that our suffering is not meaningless, but is for the comfort and salvation of others.

Thank you for a hope that cannot be shaken.Jesus has taught to besiege you with constant prayer. Here we are again, coming in his name. Amen.

GOD of DELIVERANCE

Dear Father, great and gentle one,When I am utterly, unbearably crushed so that I despair of life itself, when I feel as if I have received the sentence of death, remind me that I am to rely not on myself but on You, the God who raises the dead.It is only You who can deliver from deadly peril. I have set my hope on You. You deliver me again and again and again. How faithful You are!

I pray for my many brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world, that they will experience relief from suffering, deliverance from peril, and comfort after grief and despair.Grant bountiful blessings to Your people, my God, in answer to many prayers. Please receive this one and make it count among the many others! Thank You, Father. Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Spirit.Jesus has taught to besiege you with constant prayer. Here we are again, coming in his name. Amen.

CHRIST, OUR YES

Passage

2 Corinthians 1:12-20

Prayer

Amen! Yes! Abba, Dear Father, Let me find pride in this - that my conscience testifies that I live my life in this world with holiness and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by Your graciousness.Help me not to vacillate as I make my plans. Don't let me be like those who are worldly, ready to say \"Yes\" and \"No\" at the same time, talking out of both sides of their mouth.

As surely as You, God, are faithful, let me act in good faith toward others. For Your Son, Jesus Christ, in whom I believe by the preaching of the Good News, was not Yes and No, but was Yes! For all Your promises find Your Yes through Him. So through Him we utter the Yes, the Amen, at the close of our prayers - to Your glory. In the name of Jesus I ask this and utter my Yes! my Amen! according to His will. Yes! Amen!

"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but
deliver us from the evil one...

Day 1 Prayer:

REVIVE!
…Our Father who is in heaven…

Father God, You are the creator and father of all nations.

You sustain us by the power of your word.

We acknowledge that You alone are worthy to receive all praise and honor and glory.

As Christians from around the world, we enter into your presence through the new and living way that Jesus Christ opened for us by his blood, to kneel at the throne of grace.

We pray that you will revive the Church again through your Holy Spirit.

Answer the prayer of Jesus that we, as Church, will unite and stand as one family before You.

We pray for those believers who had fallen away that You will draw them back to You and bring them to repentance.

You are faithful and true to your promises.

Please reveal to us your loving, compassionate and merciful father’s heart.

Help us to obey your commandments and to trust You completely for our salvation, our sanctification and our daily walk.

Touch the hearts of millions of believers around the world to persist in prayer until we see the fulfillment of all your promises.

Release fresh movements of prayer in every nation of the world so that this generation may accomplish the purposes You have for each one of us.

Here am I, Lord, send me.

Amen

Update on my friend Toms mom:

I spoke with my mother again yesterday. She went to see the oncologist and the news was not that good. They told her the cancer in her lungs is multiplying and spreading. They now believe she may also have breast cancer and want to consider some options for surgery.

One of the things we talked about was Chemotherapy. She is still undecided about taking it. I know it could help prolong her life but I told her whatever decision she made I would be supportive of. The rest of my family is all trying to push her into going through with chemo treatments. This seems to be upsetting her and she just wants everyone to respect her choice. So that's the stand I am taking in the matter.

REVEAL! …sanctify Your name…

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, You are the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, and your Name is holy.

You revealed your Fatherhood to us, through Jesus Christ, who is exalted, and at His Name every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

We call upon this name for salvation.

Your Name has been profaned among the nations and many people had forgotten your Name and had stretched out their hands to other gods. Please forgive us, and sanctify your Name so that all nations, even your adversaries, shall know that You are Lord and fear your Name.

Unite my heart to fear your Name so that I will depart from iniquity and will hold fast to your Name and not deny You.

With all those who know your Name, we put our trust in You and wait on your Name.

May your Word be translated and made available for every person on this earth to hear your Word and your Name proclaimed in their own language.

Blessed be Your Name, and let the whole earth be filled with your glory!

From the rising of the sun, to its going down, your Name shall be great and in your Name the nations will trust!

Amen

I will exalt You, my God the King; I will praise Your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend Your works to another; they will tell of Your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and I will meditate on Your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of Your awesome works, and I will proclaim Your great deeds. They will celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.

MORE PRAYERS from "Praying with Paul" from Corinthians:

The Fragrance of Christ
Passage from
2 Corinthians 2:14-16

Prayer

Dear Father,Let the incense which is my life and my prayers arise as a sweet fragrance to you. Thanks be to you, my God, that you always lead me in triumph, and through me, spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ everywhere. Thank you that you have appointed Christians to be the aroma of Christ to yourself among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.Who is sufficient for these things? Certainly not I! Your grace alone upholds me.In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Christ's Love Letter
Passage from
2 Corinthians 2:17-3:3

Prayer

Dear Father,Thank you, Father, that I am not just a peddler of your word, but that I am commissioned by you and that I speak in Christ.Let everyone who comes to a knowledge of your will through what I teach be a living letter of recommendation, written on that person's heart, to be known and read by everyone.Let that person be a letter from Christ to the world, delivered by me, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on the tablets of the human heart. In the name of Jesus I give thanks and make these requests. Amen.

Thank You Lord for these beautiful prayers. I find them to be so comforting and they bring me peace for this journey & my return back to Mexico, this harvest field. May my church's plans for their Annual Yard Sale for Missions, which I return to help with, be very blessed & a huge blessing to the community as always. Provide the workers & good items to sell. I pray that they have a dog "taxi" for me! I love my church family! The proceeds go to the City of Hope in Puebla, Mexico & for people making short term trips to there.
Thank You Lord for their hearts for missions. Bless the organizers & each volunteer!

GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER: prayers leading up to this Sunday, May 31st, Global Day of Prayer:

10 Days of Prayer : Day 6 : 26 May 2009

FORGIVE! …Forgive us our sins…

To You, our God, belong mercy and forgiveness, for You are merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. You forgive iniquity, transgression and sin.

The blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, has been poured out for the forgiveness of sin, and through his blood we are cleansed from all our iniquities.

Let the blood of Jesus speak on our behalf at the throne of grace.

Forgive us for our sinful ways.

May the blood of Jesus sanctify us and cleanse our conscience from acts that lead to death.

Empower us through the Holy Spirit to break the hold of sin over our lives, so that we will abandon patterns of sin and find grace to renounce any allegiance to the powers of darkness.

Let your Holy Spirit move on the hearts of men and women to convict them of sin and bring them to repentance through godly sorrow.

Soften our hearts to see how lives are destroyed through sins that bring about war, poverty and injustice.

Give us a new spirit and a new heart to obey your commands and bring joy to your heart.

Thank You for your patience towards us and for your desire that all people will come to repentance.

Amen

GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER: prayers leading up to this Sunday, May 31st, Global Day of Prayer:

RECONCILE! …as we forgive those who sin against us…

Father God, through the blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, You have reconciled us to You, so that we may have eternal life and unbroken fellowship with You.

Through the ministry of Jesus Christ, the Prince of peace, You have also given us the ministry of reconciliation, to bring the message of forgiveness and reconciliation to all peoples.

In the name of Jesus, we have the authority and the command to forgive sins.

We confess that we have allowed bitterness and resentment to fester in our hearts.

Please forgive us.

We now forgive those who have sinned against us.

Break the cycle of resentment, revenge and racism so that relationships can be restored.

Let the reconciling power of Christ be revealed in all areas of militarized conflict so that wars will end, and peace will prevail.

Restore relationships between men and women, and bring reconciliation in marriages.

Turn the hearts of fathers and mothers to their children and of hearts of children to their parents and bring healing and restoration in families. Strengthen those believers who suffer persecution at the hands of unbelievers and give them the grace to forgive their enemies.

Let the Church become known as peacemakers in the midst of a world of conflict and hatred.

Amen

LEAD! …and lead us not into temptation…

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the good Shepherd.

You are the Head of the Church and the Author and Finisher of our faith.

You promised that the Father will send us the Holy Spirit as a Comforter and Guide to lead us into all truth and to remind us of every word had spoken.

We confess that You have the words of eternal life, and express our desire to follow You and to be your disciples.

Your word is a lamp for our feet and light for our paths.

Lead us on paths of righteousness for your name’s sake.

Fill us with such love and zeal for You that we will not be moved by the temptations of materialism, power and sexual perversion.

Help the Church to walk in the light of your Word and with such wisdom that we will fulfill your purposes throughout the earth.

Guide those who are leading others in the spheres of government, education and business, to set an example of godliness and integrity so that the curse of corruption can be broken throughout cities and economies.

Give parents and teachers godly wisdom to guide the coming generations to follow in your ways and not divert to evil paths and destructive ways.

Amen

OVERCOME! …but deliver us from evil…

Lord Jesus Christ, we confess and declare that You died on the cross, rose from the dead on the third day and ascended to heaven where You are now seated at the right hand of our heavenly Father.

You were given all authority in heaven and on earth, and the name above all names, so that at the name of Jesus Christ every knee will bow and every tongue confess that You are Lord.

You broke the power of Satan and of death and disarmed all principalities and powers through your death and resurrection.

Let the revelation of the truth of the Gospel liberate many people from the power of Satan to follow Christ.

Break the hold of satanic powers and deliver people from idolatry, witchcraft, demonic oppression, depression and the stronghold of lies in destructive ideologies and religions.

Break the powers of darkness which corrupt businesses, governments and cities.

Deliver us from the fear of death and the fear of man, and give us boldness in preaching the Gospel with courage and perseverance.

Give us the wisdom to tear down the strongholds and arguments that were raised up against the knowledge of God.

We surrender ourselves into your hand.

Use us as instruments of righteousness to overcome evil through the blood of the Lamb, through our testimonies and through our willingness to suffer for your name’s sake.

Amen

PROVIDE! …Give us this day our daily bread…

Father God, You are YHVH Yireh, the LORD our Provider.

You made a way for us to be reconciled to You through your Son, Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who is the only sacrifice we will ever need.

You are the Giver of all good things and those who come to you lack nothing.

Jesus promised that when we ask in his name, You will answer our prayer.

So we ask, please provide in our daily needs.

Enable us through the Holy Spirit to become agents of healing and change in our world.

Use us to break patterns of poverty in our communities through our sacrificial giving and sharing.

Have mercy on the poor, the sick, those who are refugees and the children of this world, and provide in their need for food, water and basic health care.

Awaken the hearts of the Church to the spiritual hunger of those who have never heard about You.

Thrust out laborers in the harvest fields of the world to preach the Gospel.

Satisfy those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.

Our eyes are upon you for You are the only one who can supply in both the spiritual and physical needs of the world.

Amen

Prayer Request from Linda: I would like to update you on Mother. She came home on Friday. The doctors say that there is nothing that can be done for her back. Her back has too damage to benefit from surgery or from rehabilitation. She will continue with her pain management doctor. I believe that he may need to adjust her medication some more. Because when I saw her yesterday. she was rather loopy more than when she was in the hospital.
I took her a walker and a shower chair that we used with my husband's grandmother when we took care of her. Of course my mother is very reluctant to use them. Please continue your prayers for her.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
