MORE THAN WORDS

"Lord, I don’t know what to say;
As I get down on my knees to pray,
The same old phrases come to mind,
But You’ve heard them all a thousand times.
It’s not that it’s untrue when I say "Lord, I love You",
It’s just that I want it to be more...

More than words, I want my prayer to be
More than words, thoughts my heart alone can speak;
As you listen to me tell of all Your power and mercy,
Lord, You know it’s my desire that what You hear is more than words.

As I open up this Book,
And read of all the love it took
For a holy God to care for man;
Spirit, help me understand.
It’s not that it’s unclear, it’s a letter to children,
But Lord I know it’s meant to be much more.

More than words, not just letters on a page;
More than words, for every line and every phrase
Was a breath of inspiration from a caring Father
Who gave the gift of His Son to prove He loved us more than words.

As I consider quietly the wonder of all Your ability,
It’s more than I can comprehend, and I find myself in need again;
But if I had every word and a thousand years to use them,
What You are to me would still be more, oh, so much more, more than words."

When you're just to tired or weary or weighted down to pray, the words of Steven Curtis Chapman...MORE THAN WORDS... speaks my prayer
tonight!

Dear heavenly Father, I am here to lift up one of my dear sisters, she is hurting so much. Her husband committed adultery, and wants a divorce.He is so lost Father, has totally turned away from You. I lift him up to You, and pray that he will repent, and return home to Your loving arms. I lift my sister to You, she is not just broken hearted, but physically not well. Please touch her Father, bring total healing to her fragile body. ASking these things in Your precious name. We love You so very, very much. Amen.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
