PRAYER for Our Nation
Declaration of Independence Signer
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States
"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --
This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.

Dear heavenly Father, thanks is so inadequate for how I feel about You. I appreciate everything You do for me, and for others. You are so gracious to us all. I will never be able to thank You enough. I love You Father. Amen
O Most Holy Father... Denise is so right, "thanks is so inadequate"...
yet we come with grateful hearts for everything!
Some people join together in saying Thanks today and others have a continuous list of 1,000+ with a community of Gratitude... a multitude of many gifts You give us each day...
I cannot think of a day that goes by that I cannot find something to tell You how thankful I am...
from the first breath of the day, to even greater wonders like healings and miracles!
Today for example, 33 lives that were saved and spared for these last 69 days.
I thank You for water running out of my faucets. Pesos enough to buy bread tonight and food this day.
Enough love to cover me forever from You. I thank You for the small birds I shared the bread with and my dogs.
Father, there are not enough thank You's to span all the blessings You pour over us. We are blessed to know You and have received the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus. So grateful to be able to spend time in Your Word and have the Bible available to me!
Yes, Lord, I give You thanks for each part of this day even the frustrations or disappointments that prove You are still there and You still care, that You do Provide our daily bread and needs that we are not even aware of... You simple tell us to ask according to Your will and seek Your will for us.
I thank You for the songs in my heart today and the dances of my feet, for ears to hear and feet that feel the movement, for eyes to see, for a voice to sing... I thank You for sisters in the Lord, and sisters like dear Denise that lift others in prayer and stand with them. That she encourages each of us and our blogs as she walks through some difficult times. I thank You that You are there to provide a way. Thank You for making a way each day! Thank You that we can pray and wait on You!
