PRAYER for Our Nation
Declaration of Independence Signer
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States
"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --
This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.

Father, Thank You for making me Your Child. Thank You for adopted me so I can call You, Abba, just like Jesus ... Papa ... I love You! I'd also like to thank You for arranging the adoption of our two children back in the 80s when I needed it most. You knew and You gave me the delight of my heart. How their being part of our family was so beautiful but now how all this has changed but not my gratitude. Help me to accept the way things are and let them be. I still will love them as You love me, but I will allow them to live their lives. I pray that they will return to the heart of the Father and remember us for raising them in a good home, providing for them and for loving them so much!
If their is any need of forgiveness, I ask that You work in all hearts involved and heal any hurts or past. Thank You for the beautiful privilege of adoption and teaching me how to let go and let them fly ... guide and protect them and their families in Jesus' Name. I give You praise for the time that they were children
that knew You and loved You and me. Thank You for the time that they went to church with me.
I have learned many lessons through adoption but I am sure there are many lessons yet to learn. Thank You for protecting my love and heart!
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for making me Your daughter. At the very beginning of my life, You saved me from being destroyed, and took me in Your loving arms. I am so proud to be a member of Your family Daddy. I love You, always. Amen
