PRAYER for Our Nation
This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:
Declaration of Independence Signer
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States
"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --
This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.

Marriage
The marriage covenant is sacred; it is to be a reflection of Christ and the Church. The husband and wife are to be in submission one to the other out of reverence for their Lord. The husband is instructed to love his wife just as Christ loves the church, and live with her according to knowledge in order that their prayers will not be hindered. The wife is to honor and support her husband in ways that show her support for Christ. In other words a husband and wife are to learn to cooperate with one another, and accept each other's individuality. Keep in mind that together you are heirs and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, and help each other grow spiritually and fulfill your individual and corporate destinies. Love is not passive, love requires effort; it isn't a feeling, but a decision.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I thank you for harmony in my marriage. Thank you for the tenderness that is expressed, promoting love and kindness. We are of one mind and we live in peace and harmony with each other. God's peace and love dominates our marriage, home and family! Jesus is Lord! Amen
Scripture Reference Ephesians 4:3; 1 Peter 3:11; 2 Corinthians 13:11
