PRAYER CHALLENGE 29

CHALLENGE TAKEN from the pdf mentioned back here
Suggestion for today from there:

Day 29:  Pray for those Christians who are being persecuted for their beliefs. Pray that they might be granted courage and strength and resources to continue to be the people of character.  Acts 10:38 – Jesus went about doing good. People are being persecuted because that’s the message they are attempting to bring and live in their life.  Pray for more courage in your own life to live this life.  So when people ask you, “Why do you do the good or nice things you do?”  Your answer will be because of the relationship I have with Jesus and trying to be like Him.

Changing Our World
Turning on the radio I heard a voice singing, What the world needs now is love sweet love. It will take faith, hope and love to change the world; the greatest of these is love. Does the world see the love of God that has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit, or are you hanging on to unforgiveness, resentment, fear and bitterness? Jesus gave New Testament belivers a new commandment: Love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (Jo 13:34-35). When believers begin loving as Jesus loves, we will change our world. It may be one person at a time, or you may be sent to other nations to proclaim the gospel. Whatever you do let it be done as a true representative of Jesus. Love is your identification badge!

PRAYER:
Father, Your Spirit has anointed us to change our world! Help us to be imitators of You, and bring good news to the poor, and healing to the brokenhearted. Give us loving hearts so we will share Your love bringing freedom to those in bondage. We make it our goal to bring a refreshing to others, and we are refreshed! In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 61:1-3Luke 4:18;Proverbs 11:25

Today's Blessing

Pray the Blessing:
Isaiah 58:5-10 Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the LORD? “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.

Declare your faith:
I believe and confess that our Father in heaven knows the need of every person on earth and wants to provide for them (Luke 12:22-31).

Praying for: the prodigals in my neighborhood

God’s Mercy

Scripture: For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. -John 3:17

This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. -1 Timothy 2:3-4

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. -2 Peter 3:9

Thus it is not [the] will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish. -Matthew 18:12-14

The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have [it] abundantly. -John 10:10

Prayer: I thank You Jesus for the mercy that I have received. I declare that mercy triumphs over judgment, and I ask for Your mercy over the prodigals in my neighborhood. You did not come to condemn but You came to save. I ask You to send forth Your Holy Spirit to awaken the prodigals in my neighborhood to You. Bring them back as lost sheep into the fold. I thank You Jesus that Your mercy triumphs over judgment.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
