PRAYER CHALLENGE 25

CHALLENGE TAKEN from the pdf mentioned back here
Suggestion for today from there:

Day 25:  Pray and ask for discernment in your life.  Ask God to defeat you in any decisions that might draw you further away from relationship with Him.  Ask God to help you not complain when you are disciplined, but that you will learn the lesson being taught so you can grow.

DAILY PRAYER from Germaine Copeland author of "Prayers that Avail Much"

Prayers That Avail Much: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Gift Edition (Prayers That Avail Much) (Prayers That Avail Much)

Choose the Way of Truth
Many years I searched for truth that would free me from the fears that tormented me. I read everything from self-help books to romance novels and the classics. I turned over many new leaves thinking that at last I had found a truth that would change my life. When Truth came to me, I discovered that Truth is a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free. If you are unhappy with your life, and seeking for change I encourage you to choose the Way of Life. Jesus said, If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you (John 15:7 RSV).

PRAYER:

Father, in the name of Jesus I ask You to preserve my life according to Your word. I recounted my ways and You answered me; teach me Your decrees. Let me understand the teaching of Your precepts; then I will meditate on Your wonders. Strengthen me according to Your word. Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me through Your law. I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on Your laws. I hold fast to Your statutes, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of Your commands, for You have set my heart free. You are awesome and I praise You, my Redeemer and Friend. Amen

Scripture Reading: Psalm 119:25-32

O Lord,

Not one prayer left here again... not even the many I copy and paste to
share some conversation with You!

I've talked with You often today.

Cried some and left a prayer here and there with some of my sisters in Christ, who shared a good WORD today that I just prayed back for them. You remind me how Your Word will not return void.

So now the thoughts here today are for discernment, decisions and discipline. Asking You to defeat me does not sound good except for the additional part that clarifies this as any decision which might draw me further away from You! Now that I can agree to... and I do pray that my thoughts would be defeated that might lead to any choice or decision that would do this.

Then the Daily Prayer is on Choosing Truth as You teach me Your precepts. Praying back Psalm 119 so that I will not be put to shame but choose the way of truth rather than listen or follow a lie. All of this has to do with my weakness of not discerning very well. Yet I thank You that I am making improvements by and through Your Holy Spirit.
Thank You for directing me and setting my heart free. I praise You and shout AMEN to Germaine's prayer this day. You are my Redeemer! You are an awesome God. I thank You for being my Best Friend. I love You!
You are more than enough! Come fill me this evening with Your quiet Spirit of Rest and make my ears attentive unto You.

Pray the Blessing:
Luke 6:27-35 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.

Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. “If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Declare your faith:
I believe and confess that through Jesus Christ, I was reconciled to God and that I received the ministry of reconciliation so that through doing good evil will be overcome
(2 Cor 5:19; 1 Pet 3:9; Rom 12:21)

TODAY'S PRAYER

Scripture: The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage”! -Acts 23:11

Prayer: Jesus, You are the Lord almighty. There is no darkness that is dark to You, and no difficulty that is beyond Your reach. You are present in every moment of our lives and nothing escapes Your notice.

I lift up the jobless in my community to You today Lord, and ask You to surround them with Your peace. There are anxious thoughts lurking about and they need Your help. Just as You brought comfort to Paul, I ask, Lord that You would whisper to the jobless in my community, “Take courage! Take courage! I am with you, Take courage!”

Let Your voice drown out the fearful thoughts that reach out from the dark. Give them the grace Lord to draw near to You today, and enter into Your presence where fear and anxiety disappear and hope and strength abound.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
