PRAYER CHALLENGE DAY 23

CHALLENGE TAKEN from the pdf mentioned back here
Suggestion for today from there:

Day 23:  Pray about those who have left the faith and turned their back on God.  Ask God for the courage to send a card, write a letter, make a call or a visit to that person, to let them know how much they are missed and needed in the family.

DAILY PRAYER from Germaine Copeland author of "Prayers that Avail Much"

Prayers That Avail Much: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Gift Edition (Prayers That Avail Much) (Prayers That Avail Much)

Morning Prayer
The mother of five small children wanted time to be alone with the Lord. Her early morning shower became her sanctuary where she met with the Father. A grandmother whose husband was retired yearned for a time of solitude to be with her Father. This grandmother arose at 5:00 each morning to pray while her husband went jogging. You can find time to pray for your family. Build a canopy of prayerful praise over your spouse, children and grandchildren each morning before the day begins. God is watching over His word to perform it.

Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, it is into Your keeping that I place my family; my parents, spouse, children and grandchildren, knowing that You are able to keep that which I commit to You against that day. Thank You for the angels that You've commanded to guard my family and me so that we will not strike our foot against a stone. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Amen
Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 1:12Psalm 91:11-12
The daily prayer is written by Germaine Copeland, author of the Prayers That Avail Much family book series.

Today's Blessing

Pray the Blessing:
Ps 92:12-15 The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God.

They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Declare your faith:
I believe and confess that the Holy Spirit is the Comforter sent by Jesus to be our helper (John 14:16-18)

Pray on foot:
Pray for and perform a kind deed for an old person today or visit an old-age home to pray for the people.

Praying for: Prodigal

Soften Prodigal’s Heart

Scripture: A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.” -Isaiah 40:3

Prayer: Lord, You are able to do more than all we ask or imagine. You make springs of water appear in the desert, and You can touch the hearts of men in a way no preaching ever could.

I ask Lord, that You would begin to work in and soften Prodigal’s hearts. Instill in them a hunger for Your truth, and give them ears to hear.

Use the circumstances of this week Lord, to soften their hearts, and break them free from the things that hold them back from You. I ask that You would reveal Yourself as the One true God and that Prodigal would hear Your word and be set free! In Jesus name, amen.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
