If this is your first visit, please stop by here and read a little bit about our ministry--how we are joining together to lift others to God in prayer. However, what you read here and in the posts is actually enough.

Maybe you come across someone that needs prayer while visiting blogs, instead of just saying, "Praying for you", do so and bring their prayer need and leave your prayer here and let them know that you left a prayer for them at the Lighthouse of Prayer

This is an interactive blog based on a comment and response system. YOU are a part of our Prayer Team - the minute you add your prayer in the comment area or leave one for someone else in the reply under their prayer.

PLEASE WRITE YOUR PRAYER, PRAYER REQUEST, PRAISE, THANKS - in the place that would normally read COMMENTS after the most recent post, but here it reads "PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD"... since a LINKY is no longer available. We begun using a PRAYER REQUEST LINKY, but if it's not there, please leave PRAYER or REQUEST in "PRAYERS LIFTED TO THE THRONE of GOD" (the area for comments but do not write a comment) Thank you so much! Looking at this new template, it's difficult to know how to leave a comment (Prayer) but just click on the part that says __ comments. [it __ shows a number for how many comments/prayers are currently posted]

We'd love to see your prayer requests and praises to God in this area and hopefully others will be supporting you through their prayers written as a response to your prayer there. Be sure to come back and see the prayers lifting you and yours together to the LORD or leave one! You can also remain anonymous, God knows you.

Please remember NO COMMENTS, only PRAYERS! It is important that this be a house of prayer. Any comment, not as a prayer or prayer request will be deleted. Thanks again!

Please read announcement in Oct. 2014 first to understand better the lack of activity here! Thank you.

CHALLENGE TAKEN from the pdf mentioned back here
Suggestion for today from there:

Day 20:  You are half-way there!

Thank God for the strength to make it this far and the courage and will to continue on with this challenge.

DAILY PRAYER from Germaine Copeland ... author of "Prayers that Avail Much"
Prayers That Avail Much: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Gift Edition (Prayers That Avail Much) (Prayers That Avail Much)

Jesus is Alive
Even though I knew the Bible stories about Jesus, I did not know Him. I wasn't even sure that He really cared about my everyday struggles. But the day came when I understood that He died and rose again, even for me. What He's done for me, He'll do for you. Jesus is alive! He is not a myth or a fairy tale. He lives; I know He lives! He is my best Friend and my elder Brother. He is the Sun who rose with healing in His wings, my Redeemer.

Praise God! Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? Jesus, I know that my Redeemer lives -- You are risen from the dead, and I am risen with You. I set my heart on things above, where You are seated at the right hand of God. Thank You Jesus! I have this assurance that even as You were taken up from among us to heaven You will come back in the same way You left. When You appear I shall be like You -- awesome! Hallelujah! Jesus is Lord!

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15; Colossians 2:12;3:1Acts 1:11

The daily prayer is written by Germaine Copeland, author of the Prayers That Avail Much family book series.

Protection Over Trouble

Scripture: You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. -Psalms 32:7

Prayer: Lord, You make rivers to flow in the desert, and set the boundaries of the seas. You carve a path through the mountains, and set the timing of the sun. Nothing is beyond Your reach, and nothing can touch what You protect.

I bring ____________________ before Your throne of grace, and I ask that You would hide her under Your wings. Protect her Lord from whatever trouble is lurking about. Secure her in the palm of Your hand, guard her going out and her coming in today.

Lord, show Yourself strong on her behalf, and declare Your sovereignty over her life. Sing over her Lord Your songs of deliverance and drive trouble from her doorstep. Let Your shadow of security fall over her today, and cause her heart to rest. In Jesus name, amen.

Man of Peace - Protection

Intro: When there is no witness for the Gospel in a town, village, or tribe, you need a ‘man of peace’. Someone whose heart is soft toward the Gospel, who will receive the servants of the Lord and not turn them away. These people are key and we should bless them with God’s protection.

Scripture: The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. -Psalms 41:2

Prayer: Lord, You are a shield, and a strong tower. You are a fortress and our hiding place. You are the God over all the earth, and there is no one who can challenge Your power.

I pray for the men and women of peace among the ____________________ and I ask that you would protect them from the attacks of the enemy. Cause Your angels Lord to encamp around them and keep them from the evil one.

Lord I ask that You would protect and preserve their life and not surrender them to the desire of their foes. For the sake of the Gospel among the ____________________, I ask that You would cover these friends of truth with Your wings, and overshadow them with Your mighty presence. In Jesus name and for His sake, amen.

Bless the Poor

Scripture: He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; he will crush the oppressor. -Psalms 72:4

Prayer: Lord, all Mighty, You are worthy of all glory and honor. You are righteous and good and You do all things well. You reward the righteous, protect the innocent and judge the wicked.

Lord, I know that Your heart is near to the weak and helpless, and that You have the power to raise up and to cast down. I bring the poor people of ____________________ before Your throne of mercy, and ask for Your blessing on them.

This place will never be great as long as the poor are mistreated or held back. I ask Lord, for Your favor to be extended to them. Raise them up Lord that they might become a blessing to those around them, and a testimony of Your goodness. In Jesus name, amen.

Exalt God above their gods

Scripture: For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. -Psalms 97:9

Prayer: Lord, I lift Your name up over ____________________ and worship You as the one and only true and living God. You are their creator, You know their past, present and future, You are the only one worthy of their worship. I exalt Your name above every spirit, and every so-called god that ____________________ look to for help.

I proclaim Your sovereignty, and authority over these false gods. Lord, You are the God of heaven, and You are highly exalted above all other gods. There is no one who can challenge the authority of Your love.

Jesus, You alone died for ____________________’s salvation and I raise the banner of Your love over them right now, and proclaim that they have been purchased by Your sacrifice. Let the worship of Your name break through the deception that holds ____________________ back from knowing You, and may the angels soon rejoice.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
