PRAYER CHALLENGE DAY 11

CHALLENGE TAKEN from the pdf mentioned back here

Suggestion for today from there:

Day 11:  Pray about one area or issue in your life where you have surrendered, but not submitted.  Surrender means you acknowledge that you’re drowning and need help.  Submission means you are doing what you’re being asked to do work through.

Pray and ask God to provide some insight and resources.  Resources-remember are when the rescue boat, raft, helicopter comes by in the form of a person who can help you, you need to submit.  God uses people and vessels that we often disregard or disdain in order to answer our prayers.

Here's a great RESOURCE and so are the other books I shared at the beginning:

DAILY PRAYER from Germaine Copeland author of "Prayers that Avail Much"

Prayers That Avail Much: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Gift Edition (Prayers That Avail Much) (Prayers That Avail Much)

Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:22-23; James 1:19-20; Ephesians 26-27; Romans 14:9

An Overcoming Lifestyle

You are an overcomer by the word of your testimony and blood of the Lamb. Your testimony is not just words, but your everyday-going-to-work life. Look yourself in the mirror every morning, and declare that Jesus is Lord over your spirit, soul and body--that Jesus has been made unto you wisdom, righteousness and redemption. You are the body of Christ, you have the nature of God. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even your faith. Expect to have a good day. Remember, you are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you!

PRAYER
Father, I yield myself to the control of the Holy Spirit that I may bear His fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Help me remember to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. If I become angry I will not sin by nursing a grudge. With Your help I will resolve my anger before sunset, and live at peace with all men as much as it is possible with me.

Scripture Reading: Galatians 5:22-23James 1:19-20; Ephesians 26-27; Romans 14:9
The daily prayer is written by Germaine Copeland, author of the Prayers That Avail Much family book series.

God of glory, You make Your presence known in many places and many ways. Make me aware of Your presence today and every day, and inspire me to share the experiences of Your presence with others. Amen.

Father,

You and I know that I struggle with my emotions. You know me so well. You know that is why grief or the opposite emotion of elation can overwhelm me. I go from highs to low so easily. Search me Lord, and reveal to me if there is anything that I have not yet surrendered to You. I do trust You in all things. Your ways and Your thoughts are far above mine.

I have such difficulty Lord dealing with all the pain and suffering in this world. Today, Lord, though I do not know him, I grieve for a neighbor of mine whose brother was killed senselessly yesterday as they celebrated his 13 yr. olds birthday. The violence here is relentless Lord. Each day it strikes closer to me. I hold up this family to You! His 80 yr. old mother, the son, the brothers and sisters, the wife... every one Father that is affected drastically by these "hooded" bandits that come to someone's home and kills him. Cowards Lord, but ohhhh how they need You. Break them Lord. Cause them to change their wicked ways.
Cover this precious family and friends that witnessed this violent tragedy and turn it around for Your good. Lord, embrace them with Your Comfort and mercy as they lay their loved one to rest. Surround them with Your everlasting love and compassion. May their tears be released as they grieve and may their mourning be turned into praise. Give them time Lord to deal with the shock and give them Your help to deal and cope with this. May You give my neighbor strength and power as he grieves with his family and help him to be all he can be for his mother. Yet give Him time also to grieve openly. He told me this morning that is spirit is heavy. You, O Lord are the burden bearer. I give You the weight upon his shoulders as he tries to help the family of his younger brother, his 10 other brothers and sisters and his dear mother. Senseless Lord this violence. I pray that they know You and have a relationship with You.

And that is where my heart is... grieving again...Japan, Libya, and Mexico... and so many countries and people that need You, Your mercy, Your grace, Your love. So many prodigals... I give all of them to You...have Your way. Guide me and lead me by Your Holy Spirit to be Your light in the darkness. Set me
free from whatever may hinder my walk with You. I am an overcomer.
We will not be defeated by the enemy. You paid the price for our victory. I make You Lord and surrender that area that You reveal to me... one at a time Lord... because You know I so easily get overwhelmed. You are ever so gentle. Give us Your strength, and a portion of Your power to take authority over all this wickedness in Jesus Name...

Send out Your rescue boat, raft, helicopter to all of us in the form of a person to show us Your way and save us,save Japan, save our military, save Your people and help us to save others perishing.

Thank You Father for using me and others as vessels. May we speak life through You Word, our daily bread. Thank You for our portion today! You alone are worthy to be praised! I surrender to You. I surrender to Your Holy Spirit as You prune me this spring, so that I may bloom where I am planted in Christ Jesus as His servant, friend, and beloved. I love You! Thank You for loving me and seeing me through this roller coaster of my life journey. Thank You for the mountains and the valleys but keep me balanced and focused always on You!

Give me the Words I need in Spanish to convey what's in Your Word and heart... to the people here. Keep me bold to share with them the glory of You! Thank You that You love the world so much...now help us, save us, help us to save others. Send out the "boat" and shine Your light...

As the Earth ages, it suffers more and more from the decay that began in Genesis with sin. With the progression of time, the intricately designed engine that is creation is slowly wearing out and breaking down. Like an engine seizing and sputtering, “creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth.” (Romans 8:22) Yet in those pains, “creation waits with eager longing” for the day it will “be set free from its bondage to decay.” (Romans 8:19-21)

In verse 23, Paul urges you to cry out, just as creation does, in prayer for the day when all will be restored and made right. Such events should always drive you to your knees, helpless before the King, asking for His glory. “For in this hope we were saved.” (Romans 8:24):

Intercede for the leaders of Japan, that they would be able to quickly assess the damage and reach those still desperately in need.
Pray for those making critical decisions concerning the power plants, that they would have wisdom and be able to avert further calamity.
Ask God to provide opportunities for Christians in Japan to be beacons of hope when there seems little left to hope for.
Finally, pray that the Lord will grant you wisdom in how to offer support and for the Holy Spirit to guide your prayers as you intercede for those in need.
“Likewise the Spirit helps us…For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26)

PRAYER for OVERCOMING WORRY

Father, I depart from evil and do good. I seek, inquire for and crave peace. I pursue (go after) it! When my ways please You, Lord, You make even my enemies to be at peace with me.

Lord, You have given to me Your peace; Your [own] peace You have bequeathed to me. It is not the peace that the world gives. I will not let my heart be troubled, neither will I let it be afraid. [I refuse to be agitated and disturbed; and I will not permit myself to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

Instead of worrying, I will pray. I will let petitions and praises shape my worries into prayers, letting You, Father, know my concerns, not forgetting to thank You for the answers. Your peace will keep my thoughts and my heart quiet and at rest as I trust in Christ Jesus, my Lord. It is wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of my life.

Thank You for guarding me and keeping me in perfect and constant peace. My mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You. I commit myself to You, lean on You and hope confidently in You.

I let the peace (soul harmony that comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in my heart [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in my mind]. I am thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to You always].

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer for Missionaries

Father, we lift before You those in the Body of Christ who are out in the field carrying the good news of the Gospel not only in this country, but also around the world. We lift those in the Body of Christ who are suffering persecution — those who are in prison for their beliefs. Father, we know that You watch over Your Word to perform it, that Your Word prospers in the thing for which You sent it. Therefore, we speak Your Word and establish Your covenant on this earth. We pray here, and others receive the answer there by the Holy Spirit.

Thank You, Father, for revealing unto Your people the integrity of Your Word and that they must be firm in faith against the devil’s onset, withstanding him. Father, You are their Light, Salvation, Refuge and Stronghold. You hide them in Your shelter and set them high upon a rock. It is Your will that each one prospers, is in good health and lives in victory. You set the prisoners free, feed the hungry, execute justice, rescue and deliver.

In Jesus’ name, we bind you, Satan, and every menacing spirit that would stir up against God’s people.

We commission the ministering spirits to go forth and provide the necessary help for and assistance to these heirs of salvation. We and they are strong in the Lord and in the power of Your might, quenching every dart of the devil in Jesus’ name.

Father, we use our faith, covering these in the Body of Christ with Your Word. We say that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and any tongue that rises against them in judgment they shall show to be in the wrong. This peace, security and triumph over opposition is their inheritance as Your children. This is the righteousness they obtain from You, Father, which You impart to them as their justification. They are far from even the thought of destruction; for they shall not fear, and terror shall not come near them.

Father, You say You will establish them to the end — keep them steadfast, give them strength and guarantee their vindication, that is, be their Warrant against all accusation or indictment. They are not anxious beforehand how they shall reply in defense or what they are to say, for the Holy Spirit teaches them in that very hour and moment what they ought to say to those in the outside world, their speech being seasoned with salt.

We commit these, our brothers and sisters in the Lord, to You, Father, deposited into Your charge, entrusting them to Your protection and care, for You are faithful. You strengthen them and set them on a firm foundation and guard them from the evil one. We join our voices in praise unto You, Most High, that You might silence the enemy and avenger. Praise the Lord! Greater is He Who is in us than he who is in the world!

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

If you would like to continue to pray on this topic, Germaine suggests that you pray the Prayers for God's People, Ministers, and Ministries to be found in the Prayers That Avail Much Commemorative Edition.

"Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth shall declare your praise."

God our Father,
teach us to find new life through penance.

Keep us from sin,
and help us live by Your commandment of love.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

The Readings: Daniel 9:4-10, Psalm 79:8, 9, 11, 13, Luke 6:36-38

Daily Meditation:
Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate.

Today's lesson is about mercy -
God's mercy for us first, and our mercy toward others.
We renew our penance - all the ways we are trying to change the patterns of our life that need healing.

Lord, do not deal with us as our sins deserve.
Remember not against us the iniquities of the past;
may Your compassion quickly come to us,
for we are brought very low.
Lord, do not deal with us as our sins deserve.
Help us, O God our savior,
because of the glory of your name;
Deliver us and pardon our sins
for your name's sake.

Lord, do not deal with us as our sins deserve.
Psalm 79

God of power and mercy, give us the spirit of prayer and repentance,
-with burning love for You and all mankind.

Help us to work with You in making all things new in Christ,
-and in spreading justice and peace throughout the world.

Teach us the meaning and value of creation,
-so that we may join its voice to ours as we sing Your praise.

Forgive us for failing to see Christ in the poor, the distressed and the troublesome, -and for our failure to reverence Your Son in their persons.

Lord,
Your commandment of love is so simple and so challenging.

Help me to let go of my pride,
to be humble in my penance.

I want only to live the way You ask me to love, to love the way You ask me to live.

I ask this through Your son, Jesus,
who stands at my side today and always.

Day 5, Pathway to Intimacy |
March 21, 2011

Luke 18:15-17: People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

What does it look like for you to come to Jesus and receive the kingdom as a child?

Peggy said...

Lord Jesus, Let me come to You this day: to our heavenly Father as a child! Remove any hindrance! May I receive Your Kingdom like a child.
Prepare me to enter... intimacy and a closer walk with You... one of holiness and purity... with Your eyes and heart for others. Seeking You first today, than putting others next and later today taking time for me.

Thank You Lord Jesus for Your love for the children! Thank You Father for Your love for us as Your children! Thank You for giving me a heart for Your children and blessing me as a teacher and a friend! Thank You Jesus that You are my friend and my Lord! May I always be aware of this!

Hallelujah... I love You! Thank You for loving me and all who come here to read...better that they would make it a habit to leave a prayer but I believe You hear them...

and I say "amen" to the spoken and unspoken...

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
