PRAYER CHALLENGE DAY 6

CHALLENGE TAKEN from the pdf mentioned back here
Suggestion for today from there:
Day 6: "Pray for those who are looking for employment during these difficult economic times.  Pray for the wisdom to be frugal and thrifty.  Pray for the ability to work not to just gather up and hoard things, but to live the Ephesian 4:28 principle of helping those who are in need.  Ask for the ability to live like Jesus who didn't have a home, but He changed the world through the way He lived and pray to manage your physical blessings to help others."
In the past here at The Lighthouse of Prayer, we started Topic 4 Today on Tuesdays, which became Tuesday's Topic, where we shared a topic or theme and scripture verses. As we go to PRAYER today or throughout this week, let's choose a personal area of REPENTANCE and from this list of Biblical verses on "repentance", let us PRAY GOD'S WORD. You can also choose particular verses in one of the personal areas you may choose from the list of God's Promises with In Touch and use those scriptures.

REPENTANCE

Isaiah 30:15
Ezekiel 18:21-22

Matthew 3:11
Mark 1:4; Mark 1:15
Luke 5:32; Luke 15:7; Luke 24:47
Acts 3:19; Acts 5:31; Acts 8:22; Acts 11:18
Romans 2:4
2 Corinthians 7:9; 2 Corinthians 7:10
Hebrews 6:1; Hebrews 12:17
2 Timothy 2:25
James 4:8
2 Peter 3:9
1 John 1:9

Let us pray,
at the beginning of these 40 days
for the spirit of repentance.

Lord our God,
You formed us from the clay of the earth
and breathed into us the spirit of life,
but we turned from Your face and sinned.
In this time of repentance
we call out for Your mercy.
Bring us back to You
and to the life Your Son won for us
by His death on the cross,
for He lives and reigns for ever and ever.

DAILY PRAYER from Germaine Copeland

... author of "Prayers that Avail Much"

Fruit of the Spirit
You are called a tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord. God has given you His nature and His ability to develop fruit, which has to be cultivated; it doesn't appear overnight. He imparts His gifts to you things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. You develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. You will find yourself involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force your way in life, but able to marshal and direct your energies wisely. (Read Galatians 5:22-23 The Message.) This is the fruit of the spirit in action.

PRAYER
Father, your Spirit lives in me, and I am swift to hear. I have learned it's more important to listen than to be heard. I purpose to be slow to speak, and choose the words I speak with grace. I am slow to become angry. May my recreated human spirit, under the control of the Holy Spirit bear fruit -- joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Scripture Reading: James 1:19-20; Galatians 5:22-23

Praying for: the Jobless in my community

Abundant Provision

Scripture: And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. -2 Corinthians 9:8

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the God of all, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love You and keep Your commandments. Every good and perfect gift comes to us from Your hand.

Father, you have given us, Your children, the power to bless others, so I stand in that privilege right now, and I bless the Jobless in my community with abundant provision that flows from Your hand. I ask that You would make all grace abound to them, so that in all things at all times, having all that they need, they will abound in every good work.

Lord, You are a lavishly generous God. I ask that You would surprise the Jobless in my community today with Your generosity. Pour out a blessing on them Lord that they cannot contain. Over flow their expectations, so that every need is met with plenty left over to share with others. Give them faith Lord to believe You for an abundance, and to honor You as the generous loving Father that You are. In Jesus name, amen.

Today’s Prayer
Praying for: the prodigals in my neighbohood

Stir the prodigals in my neighbohood to Hunger for God

Intro: Sometimes people get used to living in spiritual poverty, because they don’t know anything else. However the Lord has put a deep need for Him in the heart of every man, woman and child. In prayer, we can ask the Lord to stir up this yearning, and prepare the way for His powerful message of reconciliation and restored relationship.

Scripture: For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. -1 Corinthians 5-6

Prayer: Lord, I thank You that You are the God of truth, and that Your word says, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” Thank You for the freedom that You bring in every area of our lives. Right now I ask You to release a yearning and a restlessness within the prodigals in my neighbohood, a real spiritual hunger that won’t settle for a substitute.

Lord, stir them with such a strong desire, that they would embrace any change or venture any risk necessary, in order to encounter Your Truth. Let them be like the man who found the “pearl of great price”, willing to pay whatever he had to buy it. I thank You Lord for hearing my prayer, and for the hunger You are stirring in the prodigals in my neighbohood’s hearts right now. In Jesus mighty name, amen.

PRAYER for Our Nation

This was shared in an email from the Presidential Prayer Team:

Declaration of Independence Signer

Samuel Chase
George Washington (1732-1799), 1st President of the United States

"Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy Holy protection; and Thou wilt incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government; and to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." --

This prayer of George Washington appears in St. Paul's Chapel in New York City.
